I never thought I'd say this, but a lot of people have been asking me for fashion advice as of late. Well, gaia fashion at least.
I've decided to post a few pointers here for those who were wondering:
1) Have a theme. Whether its as specific as "Ryuk" or as generic as "Green", your avi needs to be tied together by something. Try not to have to have a story explaining it.
2) Keep it to 3 colours max, unless you're referencing something. Otherwise it turns out cluttered and unorginized.
3) You don't need 50 items to look good! Often, it turns out looking noob-esque, which is never good. Try sticking to one or two items per layer, with exception of "items" and "accessories", which should be kept below 5 each. Try to stay away from anything overlapping unless it looks natural and fits in (i.e., a vest over a shirt, hair over a background item, ect.)
4) Once new items come out, buy a few. However, don't use them all at once. Try mixing them in with a few classics so you stand out a bit more. Also, I almost never sell my items because you never know when they may come back into style wink

5) Again, I stress, Stick To Only 2 or 3 Colours! I recommend having black and another colour or white and another colour since these are simplistic yet elegant.
6) You DON'T need expensive items to look good! Often only one MC or EI will be enough in an outfit.
7) And I stress again, this is a newbie mistake I see all the time, IF YOUR AVI NEEDS A WHOLE STORY EXPLAINING IT, ITS NOT GOOD. You can have a story, but if your avi doesn't make sense without it, it won't work.
