Hi everyone! Yesterday it was raining really hard, and the last day of my not-vacation. I was really sick of doing homework and was inspired (for the first time in months) by the rain, so I opened my blinds and started writing about what happened outside.
The first three are based on what I observed, the other two are just things that hit me. These poems are the first works I've written for pleasure in months. They may not be great, but at least it was nice writing them! ^_^
Enjoy, review, critique, but please don't steal!
Rain
Raindrops fall Like baby footsteps On the darkening concrete Pouring their memories Cleopatra’s lips Caesar’s toast Hamilton’s draught Onto artificial glory
Palm Fronds
They bend in dramatic sweeps Gesturing to the sculpted landscape Striving to swing free Despite delicate stalks which bind them Like so many faces in a crowd
Directions
A car wanders, aimless Through rain-stricken suburban streets Stopping and whirling Turning and pausing Seeking an exit As a young man struggles To break free from entrapment Between two paths
Journalism
A soft voice Permeates the letters As a quiet, lonely whisper In a crowded room Present But unimportant Beneath the words it elevates The voices meant to be heard And wish as I might I cannot make those voices My own
Handwriting Note: I write in cursive.
Haphazard lines Crawl over my paper Like the paths of leaves In autumn breeze Unstoppable Though I do not know What to say
