Song Story: ‘Apologizes’ Song: In between by Linkin Park
It was only 5 A.M. in the morning when the telephone started to ring through the dark silent home. A young adult groaned as she slowly and lazily got up from her bed and shuffled her feet on the cold wooden floors towards the kitchen where her only phone in the house was. Her hazel eyes were only half open as her golden brown hair was just a huge mess of curls on the top of her small head. “Dang…I have to get another phone soon.” She promised herself as she finally reached the blaring phone before it got into voicemail. “Hello?” “Alyson? Is that you?” “No…It’s Freddy Kroger…of course I’m dang Alyson! Why the heck are you calling me so dang early in the morning Nicole? You know I love to sleep in on Saturdays.” She said gruffly into the phone, not being in her best moods since she awoken up from one of her good sleep and dreams. Nicole fell silent on the other line of the phone for a long period of time. “Nicole?” “…Yea…Sorry…I’m here…” She answered back slowly then soon fell silent once again. Alyson could feel fear rise inside of her at her friend’s sudden silence over the phone. She rarely would ever do this, usually she would laugh and tease and talk about what she was up too and that her college homework is a bore. But none of that is happening right now, so something had to be wrong. Alyson took in a few steady breaths to try and calm herself down. Once she did so, Alyson spoke again but clearer and calm. “Nicole…Why have you called so early? What’s wrong?” “…Its’…It’s…” “Spit it out Nicole! You’re starting to scare me!” “…It’s Carol…” “…What about Carol? Is she alright?” “No…she’s not. Alyson…she’s…she’s dead.”
Let me Apologize to begin with Let me apologize for what I’m about to say But trying to be genuine was harder then it seemed But somehow I got caught up in between.
Alyson could feel her eyes grow wide in a state of shock from the sudden and horrible news. And in this state, she didn’t even realize that her hand has loosen and lost its grip on the phone and made it drop from her palm down hard on the wooden kitchen floor with a large SLAM! She began to shake her head left to right as her eyes stared off to the distance. “No…no, no, no, no, NO!” she began to chat, screaming at the last word. “Alyson? Alyson are you still there? Alyson! Pick up the phone!” Nicole’s desperate voice was pleading her. But Alyson just ignored it. She turned on her heel and began to run out of her kitchen and out her front door, not caring about shoes or a coat. Alyson then only burst into a fast and hard run down the sidewalk as she started to near her friend, Carol, home. The cold morning breeze hit her bare face but only ignored it, keeping her mind on Carol. No…no this CAN’T be happening. She can NOT be dead. She wouldn’t…she couldn’t…DANG IT CAROL! Alyson shouted in her head as she soon neared the house. She looked around with wide eyes, seeing flashes of red and blue lights flickering off Carol’s home from two police cars and an ambulance. She could also see a crowd of people gathering around on her front yard but being held back from the police. Not caring at all that her heels were bleeding from the run and stinging from rocks or dirt getting into the cuts, she stomped through the crowd of neighbors till she reached the police. One of them came up to her, stopping Alyson in her tracks. “Whoa Ma’am. People are not allowed near or at the scene.” He warned her, pushing her back with his broad arms. Alyson narrowed her eyes at the policeman, not caring about any of this and continued trying to push her way through. She may of appeared small, but she had the strength of many men. “That is my best friend in there! I have to see if she is alright!” She yelled at him. The man’s eyes widen at her sudden fury, but continued to hold her back. “I’m sorry. But letting you go in would be against regulations.” He told her. Alyson was about to yell at him more, saying some thing like screw regulations before something caught her eye and made her freeze in her tracks. She could see two men, pushing a bed cart with a body bag on top, heading towards the ambulance. And she could tell that it was full. She felt sadness and pain pierce her heart at the sudden fact that Carol was indeed, dead. She then felt herself finally give in and let the man keep her out of boundaries. When he saw the sudden change, he finally and slowly let go of her and took his chance to finally get back to the scene. Alyson quickly lifted her head up towards the man when he started to leave. “No! Wait! Mister…may I ask you a question?” She called out to him, sounding desperate. The police officer stopped in his tracks and turned to look at her. He sighed deeply but nodded his head. “Yea, sure. What is on you mind Miss?” He answered back. Alyson looked at the man with a hallow face, emptied out of emotions. “Tell me…please…how….how did she die?” She asked him, begging that he would answer her question. He froze, hesitating and debating to himself ether or not he should tell her. It was then moments later from his thinking he finally decided with a nod of his head. “Her death…was not from a homicide…but a cause of suicide.”
Let me apologize to begin with. Let me apologize for what I’m about to say. But trying to be someone else was harder then it seemed. But somehow I caught up in between.
Yea...thats what I got typed so far.....
