Jason is the son of Aeson and Alcimede. His father, Aeson was the rightful heir to the throne. His uncle, Pelias wanted the throne and took it from Aeson. Pelias tried to kill Jason but his mother hid him. Pelias lived in fear that the rightful heir would come back and take his throne from him. Pelias went to a oracle to see what fate awaited him. The oracle warned him of a stranger who would come with one sandal. Jason entered the kingdom with only one sandal. He lost the other one while walking in the river carrying an old woman, whom was Hera in disguise. Jason went up to Pelias and demanded his throne back. Pelias told him to get the golden fleece to prove that he is able to be king. After getting the task gather a group of people. They were later known as the Argonauts, who were named after the boat that they were sailing in. Jason arrived in Colchis to claim the golden fleece. The kind of Colchis, King Aeetes promised to give it to him if he could perform three tasks. After hearing what the tasks are Jason got depressed because he thought the tasks were impossible. Hera told Aphrodite to make Aeete’s daughter, Medea fall in love with Jason. In result, Medea helped Jason with his three tasks. First Jason had to plow a field with a fire-breathing oxen. Medea gave Jason an ointment that protected him from the oxen’s flames. Jason’s next task was to spread the teeth of a dragon into a field. The teeth would sprout into an army of fierce warriors. Medea knew about this and warned Jason. She also told him how to defeat the warriors. Before they attacked him Jason throw a rock. The soldiers were unable to discover where the rock came from and in their confusion attack each other. The final task was to get the golden fleece from the Sleepless Dragon that was guarding the fleece. Medea mixed up a potion for Jason that got the dragon to sleep after he breathed in the potion. While the dragon was asleep, Jason took the fleece and sailed away with Medea. When Jason got back to Greece, he became engaged to Creusa to help strengthen political power. When Medea found out, she was enraged and stated that she helped him get the golden fleece. Jason said that it was not her that helped him in getting the golden fleece but Aphrodite who got Medea to fall in love with Jason in the first place. Medea killed Creusa so that she would never be married to Jason. Jason broke his vow to love Medea forever, he lost the approval of Hera and died lonely and miserable. He was then cursed because he broke the vow. While he was taking a nap under the stern of the ship, Agro, a piece of wood fell on him and destroyed him.
