HISTORY HOMEWORK DO NOT STEAL I WILL HUNT YOU DOWN IF YOU DO evil twisted THIS IS JUST TO READ IF YOU WANT TO SINCE WE ARE STUDYING WWII
Dear Dairy, Today is February 28, 1942. I was flipping thought the pages of the newspaper. The news was about the war and how we needed to help by conserving our resources. I put the newspaper down and got up. Mother said that I should go and find a job in one of the factories near by. She’s annoyed because father went to Europe to fight in the war. She talks about how I’m not doing anything for the war. I couldn’t care less about the war. We all know that the Allies will win, it will just be a matter of time. I go outside and look around, all the factories have job signs hanging on the window. I took the HELP WANTED paper and walk inside the building. The smoke fills my lungs and it burns my throat. “I want a job here,” I said to the guy, who was in charge. He looks at me and nods. Then he tells me what to do and the procedures of the machinery. I get undressed into something that is more suitable to wear and then I get to work.. After a few hours of working, it was time for lunch. The other girls kindly offered me portions of their lunch because well, I didn’t really think about lunch when I dashed out the house. As I quietly ate my food, the girls were talking about the war. Most of them talked about Rosie the Riveter and how she inspired them to get the job in the first place. They kept of talking about how this is the first time women could get out of the house and get jobs that men had. They also talk about how some of their friends are now flying airplanes and teaching men how to do it! I never thought of it like that. I have always complained about the lack of men-power but these women like that there aren’t any men here. They continue talking about how this is a step in the right direction for women and how after the war, the men will appreciates them more. I thought about Rosie, even though Rosie the Riveter is a cartoon drawn by the government, Rosie had a big impact to women. Others are now talking about stepping out of household chores and applying for these jobs. Then I thought how different my life would have been if women could do the same things men could. My whole world would be very different if that happened. Others talked about the things that they have made in the past three hours. They talk about how they are helping out in the war by making these trucks. They say the trucks will help carry the weapons or supplies to the soldiers. They daydream about the war. They thought the truck that they made would help the Allies in the war. I thought about the war and how much work it was just to build a truck! Well, Dairy today was exhausting but I feel like I did something important to help the war. I guess mom was right about getting a job. I feel like I did something more than cleaning the house. I felt like I made a difference, like I changed history a little. Women getting jobs and helping out in the war should be something that goes down in history.
