Breeds and Breeding
Off - Breeds
Wingless
• Genetic Defect in same element matings – can be of any element
• Typically happens in second and third generations
• 1/10 chance
Mizpup
• Genetic Defect when elements crossbreed.
• Mismatched wings with body-type, fur-type, etc.
• Does not occur with all crossbreeds. They will typically take on the mother’s element. 1/50 chance.
Baneblood
• Same as mizpups, but a name for when a Khan-Loyal and a S'feena-Child crossbreed.
• 1/2 chance instead of 1/50, since the two sides are not intended for breeding.
Breeding
The Aershaa breed in a unique way – a sort of ritual of elements. They don’t have reproductive organs, but instead have reproductive energies and the ability to create. The ritual utilizes their elements in such a way that summons their deity – be it S’feena or Khan – to bring form and flesh to the magics.
In terms of the outcome, the mother has the dominant magics - or genes - and the children will typically take on her elemental traits. Half the time they can use weaker forms of their father's magics, but by adulthood, if these magics aren't practiced and honed, they will fall completely dormant, and the Aershaa will be as if they were a pure blood.
One in every fifty Aershaa is a Mizpup - that is, they hold both their mother's and father's elemental traits in both body and magics. (Artist's note: mizpups also have custom lines, since they can't look like any one breed.)
Mizpups are treated as equals, but Banebloods are not. A cross between a "light" child and a "dark" child becomes obvious by mixed personalities and awkward features.
