Nightly Blood Chapter 1
It was cold. And not just cold, it was dark out as well; but I had the Moon to guide me on this dark cold night. I thank the Lord for that very moon, if there is a Lord as I hear religions gibber off about. The only sounds I could hear was the fizzing out of the cigarette I just flicked to the snow bedded ground and the clicking of my shoes walking down the empty street. I only then paused to see what the time was; Ten past midnight. It was just 10 minutes ago that I walked out of the Music Lust club that I go with my small group of friends every Saturday night. We all decided that it was a good way to take time to just party and hang and forget our work and troubles for one night. A whirl of my breath tickled my face as it swirled up into the cold night. Cupping my hands at my sides, trying to keep the cold out I continued my way down the empty dark street. I went down this street every night I went out, so I was pretty much used to the dark and just being alone. I felt no fear. It was then later on with my walk down the street that I started to hear another set of shoes clanking on the cold concrete floor. I stopped, turned around with a confused expression on my face as my blue eyes scanned the dark street. “Hello?” I called out, breath rolling out of my mouth. “Anyone there?” I asked once again and then falling silent so I could hear a response. None came my way except the shoes steps that was getting louder and louder as it got closer to him. I backed away a bit, getting a little bit suspicious of the stranger ignoring my calls. I kept on walking away from the shadows till I got to the lighter parts of the street where the bright moon was shining the most. I placed myself in the middle as I directed my eyes on the spot where the steps were getting nearer. My heart began to race as I heard each step getting closer, and closer. Was I finally feeling fear for the first time? I had no idea except when time would tell. My heart then only quickened when the footsteps stopped right in front of me, outside of the ring of light so I couldn’t see the strangers face, or if he was there. I paused, craning my neck out a bit to get a better look and to try and make out a shape of a figure or something. “He-he-hello?” I tried again as I took another step. My feet echoing off the stone tiled walls of the alley street. Silence only replied back to me as I looked back and forth of the spot. It was strange, very strange. I could of sworn that the steps stop right there in front of me, hiding in the shadows. I was about to give up, forget about the stranger and just keep on walking. But I should of known that wasn’t going to happen.
To be continued....
