I was just watching a music video of some anime... the song was that one by Cascadia [sp?] that had the lines of
"And every time we touch, I feel the static, and every time we kiss I swear I could fly! Can't you hear my heart beat fast, I want this to last..."
I have no idea what the song title is or how to spell the band's name, but I know every word when I'm singing along to it! Me & my friend were talking about this kind of thing at camp a few weeks ago, and that converstaion totally came and hit me on te head when I was watching the music video: We were talking about how some songs were crap like "oh gee, i love you so much" as the chorus and didn't have any meaning at all. She asked me if there were ANY songs in the universe that were actually right and actually made you think and believe them and such. The songs that immedeatly got stuck in my head were:
Imagine by John Lennon, Hey There Delilah by the Plain White T's, though I'm not quite sure exactly why, That one Cascadia [sp?] song, 525,600 minutes from Rent, and American Pie. There are too many Beatles songs to put here, and stuff like Elvis, although totally awesome and respected by me, just don't cut it. These are THE songs that a} make your heart, like, melt and know that the song isn't another fake: it's the real deal. b} cause you to be totally profound and think about friends that you loved a long time ago but just drifted away. It makes you nicer to people cuz you don't want that to happen again. c} make you want to change the world and get up the nerve after a year of sitting and hoping for something to spark.
Those are what the real songs make me think about... I think that's why I don't like alot of modern music... It's all about sex and losing the girl and blah blah blah. It's all just crap to get the fangirls to drool over you and get all their merchandise at Claire's with their pretty faces on them. Barf me a rainbow, but these songs are my definition of love. Youtube them all and maybe it'll make sense. And no, I don't just mean the "romantic" love, I mean the "sharing half of your popsicle" and "calling your friend for help with homework even when you're embarresed" love. HA. I think I'm finally getting that there's more than one kind in this world. Whoa. I think I'm gonna go lie down for awhile. >.> <.<
