I am BACK from NYC. In a way, I didn't want to leave. But then again, I was getting zero sleep and missed everyone terribly. So now I've decided to post about all our fun antics.
SATURDAY-Plane ride. Stuck in the window seat next to Drew, my eternal crush. BORING three and a half hour ride. Couldn't even see the city when we were flying in. Blah.
Counslers pick us up, take our luggage. Get stuck on subway for two hours. Get to the church, unpack, yada yada. Get into small groups. Learn that Dylan's in my group (he's a big bro figure).
Eat pizza. Let me tell you, NYC pizza ROCKS. That stuff was great! Yummy!
Go on walk to George Washington Bridge. See New Jersey. Go back, worship, sleep.
SUNDAY-Centeral park. Pretty. HUGE. Walk to other church to worship. Then go to Gound Zero and the Firefighter memorial. That stuff is really sad. Wish I had had flowers to leave at the site. Walked to Staten Island Ferry. Went to Staten Island, then got back on the Ferry. Saw Statue Of Liberty and Ellis Island. Lots of pictures.
Then CHINATOWN!!!! Ate and bad restraunt, hated my fortune cookie. Then Shoping. Bought D&G purse and gifts for friends. Then had dessert in little Italy. Sam thinks that a Yankees hat is a Mets hat. Dylan announces it and we almost get wacked. Good cannoli. Bought biscotti for dad. Go back and sleep
MONDAY-Work at New Life School. Pull weeds all day. English Ivy SUCKS.
Eat at Middle Eastern Restraunt. Good Lamb. Then cross Brooklyn Bridge. I hate bridges. First one across. Learn that Ben was in a car crash and thats why Matt is all sad. Go home and sleep.
TUESDAY-New Life School again. Wash windows and clean kitchen.
Greenwich Village. Very cool, very *my hometown*. Got to see NYU. Bought some very cool souviners and saw a street magican. Home and Sleep.
WEDNESDAY-Work at the church we worshiped at. Pull up carpet and wax floor. Dylan works in the well and suffers lead paint and rat droppings. Pretty funny. Grill for lunch. Eat at Indian Restraunt (seriously, that was its name!) then go to see the fireworks... in the rain. Cold and wet, but the fireworks were really cool. Spent time with Drew, Elisa, and Sam. Home and Sleep.
THURSDAY-Soup Kitchen. They make good Mac & Cheese there.
Closing worship and feet washing. Smelled funny.
Back to Chinatown for more shopping and more bonding with Drew, Elisa and Sam.
Then eat at awesome Italian restraunt (Mangia & Bevi, eat and drink) where they give out tambourines and we can dance on the chairs.
Then Times Square. Most amazing place on earth! Its bright and loud and I loved it. Group split up and some went shopping (idiots) while we went to the Empire States Building. HUGE. Hate elevators, so it was a litttle creepy, but the veiw was totally worth it.
Took us two hours to get back on the subway. The shopping group was stuck outside in the cold and rain for an hour, cause we had the keys. HAHA! Stayed up till three packing and filling our evaluation forms.
FRIDAY-Got up super late, but were first people to breakfast. Had to go through the guys room and they sleep funny. Finished packing, then was in the first shuttle. Waited for two hours for the other group to get there. Supposed to leave at 5:20, but the flight was bumped back to 7:20. Then spent an hour waiting for gas cause they forgot to fill up the tank. Thirty minutes of sitting on the runway.
SATURDAY-Home at two in the morning. SLEEP.
