Brimstone entered the suite and double checked the rooms he'd prepared for his sister then ordered a few snacks just in case she was hungry after her trip. To be honest, he was a little nervous about this. Despite the fact that they were close, they had been denied their closeness and been kept separate. The leverage Harrow had held over them was a nightmare, but it was effective.
For now, he was simply going to enjoy rebuilding the relationship with his sister as well as getting her ready to take the Baroness title she should have had all along.
He heard the door open behind him and turned to see four of Zosne's females lead a cloaked figure into the suite. One of them nodded to him before they left them alone again.
Once the main door was closed, hands reached up to remove the cloak and revealed platinum blonde hair that bordered on silver swept up in a braid that trailed over one shoulder to her waist. She raised her eyes to look at him and gave a grin, "Brim!" she called out before she ran to him, hugging him tightly around the waist. His hands automatically went to her waist and pressed her head to his chest, silently noting that she'd grown taller. She was just shorter than he was, but she was curvier. If she hadn't been his sister, he'd have paid more attention to her figure. But her eyes were the same amber-crimson combination that he remembered.
He pressed a kiss to her hair as he held her, "I've missed you Tempe..." he said in a rough whisper, doing his best to not break down over this reunion.
After a moment she pulled back with a soft laugh and tapped the center of his forehead, "I don't know how you did it, but I"m glad you got me out of there. Harrow's Second was giving me creepy looks. There was only so much scrubbing the latrines I could handle before I broke and tried to knife the b*****d," she commented as he led her to the couch with a chuckle of his own.
"It was the Queen's decision. She wanted you to start training at the Fort, as well as learning the Baronial duties. She's already scheduled you with herself for that. Gypsy will be doing your training at the Fort. I was surprised that she agreed to that one, if I'm being honest. But you'll probably declare the psychotic hybrid to be your new bestie before your first day is over," he started to explain, rolling his eyes when he caught her excited expression.
"She's psychotic? Fantastic! She'll know lots of tricks. Now tell me everything that's going on. All we know back home is that the King died. Nothing else at all," she demanded information.
Brimstone just smiled as he tugged on her braid lightly, "Alright, Tempe. I'll tell you everything. Just calm down, eat something, and please behave while we get everything settled," he demanded of her playfully.
Then he caught her up on everything, including Harrow's plot to marry her off to Baron Neelis's son, Corvy. She wasn't a fan. Neither was he. But she agreed that Brimstone's plan had to go through to take care of everything. Which meant that she was going to have to be patient.
And they both had to be careful...
According to Brimstone, no one could find out who had the assassination contracts on them. So they were going to have to wait for their freedom...
It was a b***h, but it was what they had to deal with.
For now, they talked long into the night before he sent her to bed. He still worried, but he went to bed as well, trusting that Zosne had prepared the right guards for them. He didn't sleep peacefully, but he did sleep. And he was going to need the sleep to get Tempest ready to meet Gypsy and Cynthia. Cynthia would be easy since she was here in the castle. Gypsy would be interesting because he was supposed to take her to the Fort for that meeting...
