After another unsuccessful date in the spring, Hattie had spent some time thinking about what was going on with her. It had taken a little while, but she finally concluded that she didn't like boys. Well, she didn't like normal boys. She determined that she liked girls and boys that looked like girls. When she got home from school, she spent some time with her laptop and discovered that what she was was called berrisexual. She had an attraction to girls and effeminate boys. And there was one person that she had a strong attraction to... her best friend. Gosh, when she thought about who she really wanted to kiss, Jazzy was the only one who came to mind. Jazzy wasn't a girl or a boy but something in between and while they weren't super effeminate, they weren't masculine either. Whatever they were, they were what Hattie was attracted to. Of course that meant she was going to have to tell Jazzy that. Before her father left for his month long fishing trip, Hattie got her parents together and confessed her sexuality to them. Naturally, both of her parents were super accepting of her and confirmed that they loved her no matter who she loved. The hard part was going to be confessing to Jazzy. Clearly, the easiest way to do that would be to invite Jazzy over for midsummer sleepover.
Of course her best friend wasn't going to pass up the opportunity for a sleepover, so Hattie started to prepare for their night. She made sure that they could watch their favorite movie, Mum was going to cook them dinner, Hattie had several games lined up, and even planned a late evening walk along the river so that she could confess her feelings under the setting sun. Worst case scenario was that Jazzy broke her heart and said that they didn't have the same feelings for her. Best case scenario... Hattie and Jazzy could kiss under the setting sun and walk back to the house holding hands. Then they could snuggle under the covers and watch their favorite movie. The teen blushed when she thought about snuggling with Jazzy and watching a movie. Gosh, she really hoped that Jazzy returned her feelings. Hattie nervously chewed on her finger nails while she paced in the living room in front of the fireplace, waiting for Jazzy to get there. Hattie had to keep her nerves up, lest she balk and not confess. Gosh, that would be super awkward if she had to try and tell her at Hogwarts. No, she had to tell Jazzy here.
