Hello and welcome to my little thread!

I was originally going to apply for cycle 8 but I've been quite busy with real life (and doing a cross country move in a little over a month, wow!) but I still wanted to participate and exercise my avatar making skills!

So I'll be making posts with each challenge when I can.

Of course commenting and conversation is allowed in the posts, I'll be reserving the post below this to showcase each avi i make (I may make more than one depending on the challenge time and commitment permitting).

Lets Dress!

Model: Henrietta
Song: Fairy Paradise by Cocorosie
Live Performance | Studio Recording
He draws near the periphery
In disbelief on delivery
Came child from the deep inferno
Crusty head of dead volcano
Heartless crow with brittle beak
Wooden leg too schocked to speak
Lilac dust of a woman's hair
A wooden cross a paper prayer
A stone where her body lay
A stack of feathers a pile of hay
A mushroom for an eye ball
A mustache from the snow fall
Worms weave a ring where fairies square dance
Queens and kings fairies weave wigs with eyelash
Trance music makes the fairies dance

Fairy Paradise - cocorosie

Why This Song?:

cocorosie as a band has really inspired me in a whole with a lot of their music; from their aesthetics and being oddities in how their music is made (please watch the live performance for this) and feels to their lyrics and the depths of their feelings within it. I chose Fairy Paradise especially because of the electronic vibes and ethereal lyrics. I included BOTH a live performance and the studio recording because the dichotomy was so important for me growing up. To have something so angelic and post modern shaped the way my aesthetics were built! Listening to the song I'm always transported into a beautifully ruined world, watching the queen of the fae - Titania - reawakening her world for rebirth and renewal as the cycle was always meant to repeat itself. I've used this song in the other a decade I've been listening as a Rosetta Stone to a lot of my creations.

About the Look:
We dressed Henrietta in many different layers today, wanting to be playful and dramatic in the shapes and colors. Something fae-like with a post apocalyptic subgenre that I feel meshes well with such a soft backdrop of flora and fungi. Using the Salty Moe Emo and Breezy Don't Give A we cut the over soft romantic vibes of the Breezy Consort Selune that could weigh too heavily in a gentle sense. I wanted it to be messy, to make you lean closer to look at the details like the faerie wings of Breezy Sinful Witch and the winged Between Dream and Sky to create an othered effect. Not quite human, but beautiful and dangerous. Layering the makeup was a challenge, as I didn't want to drown out her stark white eyelashes nor make her look like a doll. There was a want to make her a bit sickly, otherworldly and I feel like layering so many makeup effects like the Royal Stellar Saturniidae - something a touch darker and blue that really fit well with the Shoujo's Flairs and using Yes Miam to accentuate her natural lipshape without changing it! It was a very nice find that I would use again.
