
For years, the Kingdom had been plagued by horrific creatures. Demons, folks claimed. Monsters that should not have existed on that realm. As such, the King decided to take on even more guards, training a select few to deal with these things. Once their training was complete, these knights were sent off to do their duty. They were sent in small groups, each group given a name and a quadrant of the kingdom to patrol. The very best of these select knights were sent to the farthest reaches of the kingdom, into a forest that few dared enter, where the evil was thought to originate. Not many expected them to return...

.As he tried to puzzle through the meaning of these words and bring himself to, flashes of what happened came to him. A giant beast. At least three of his comrades lying dead on the forest floor. A great flash of light. White hair. The sensation of being carried, yet feeling no support beneath him. He felt a cool cloth being laid across his head and someone unwrapping bandages around his arm. As his eyes opened and focused, he saw that same white hair, run through with impossible blue streaks and framing kind, bicolored eyes. Upon noticing his consciousness, the woman smiled. It was a kind, but sad smile. "You're safe now." And with that, a deep, inky blackness enveloped him once more.
