Mikaila walked into the slave shop, an older man accompanying her. "So, uncle, is this where we're getting my new friend?" Nodding in reply to her question, the man she reffered to as uncle motioned to all the cages, "now, why don't you take a look around, pick whoever you want." At this, Mikaila started skipping through the rows of cages, her teddy bear in hand.
Gaileth Luther was still trying to remember how he even got here in this slave shop. That Darius and his cronies are going to regret this later once I'm out of here, he thought as he watched a young lady came in with an older man.Maybe her uncle? Here to get someone to help protect the young lady, he guessed as he looked away from them and at the other slaves that were still here.
The older man slowly began walking past the rows of cages, following the direction Mikaila went in. Glancing in at the slaves, I wish she'd hurry up, this place is mired in filth, it's disgusting, he thought. Stopping in front of the cage that held the dark haired man, Mikaila noticed he wasn't looking, so she announced her presence with a bright "Hello".
So she decides to talk to me first, he thought after hearing a 'cheery' hello from the girl. Gaileth turned his face to look at her."Hello," he replied back and not as cheerful as her had been.If she going to pick me, she should go ahead and get done with it.Gaileth thought as he was tired of being in this cage.
Holding up her bear, speaking with a deeper tone, as if it were the bear, "someone's grumpy." Turning towards the older man, Mikaila motioned for him. "Uncle, over here." With a smile he moved to where she called to him, while thinking, "it's about time." Looking at the man in the cage, and then turning to Mikaila. "miss Mikaila, why don't you look around some more, while I have a little chat with this felow." Turning in some direction, Mikaila darted off down the rows of cages again, leaving the two men alone. "Don't mind the miss too much, she's not altogether there. I don't mean to say she's crazy, it's just her mind, she has the mind of a child. Her doctors say it was a mental collapse, brought on by the death of her parents. She is 17, but currently has the mind of a 10 year old. That is why she has the overly cheery disposition. Anyway, I'm here to find her a suitable bodyguard. Figured it was better to buy one, then hiring one. There have been a few attempts on ehr life the last couple of weeks, and she's just about to turn 18. She's to inherit a substantial fortune on her birthday, unless of course she is dead before then. Which is why I'm now talking to you. I'd imagine that cage isn't terribly comfortable, and you probably want out at this point. So, would you be up to the job of protecting her."
So I was right in thinking what they were looking for, Gaileth thought after hearing her uncle's prattle."Sure, they have my swords at the front desk,"Gaileth said as he wanted to get out of here. He wasn't sure if he really wanted to be a bodyguard to this young lady who thinks she's only 10 years old but really is 17.
Mikaila made her way back to the two, with a guard following. The guard unlocked the door of the cage, letting it swing open. "Miss Mikaila, you already bought him?" "Yep, I didn't feel like walking around while you were talking, so I went to the front desk and paid what they told me," she said. The guard walked back to the front, muttering that Gaileth's things were by the door when they left. Following the guard back to the door, "Alright then, if you're ready to leave, the car's outside."
So apparently Miss Mikaila wants me to be her body guard with out talking it over with her guardian. Gaileth thought as he watched her come back with a guard to unlock his cage.I wonder if they realize that I'm a vampire yet. He thought as he got out of the cage and then asked,"Miss Mikaila, you do realize that you have gotten a vampire as your body guard?" He waited for her to reply before heading out, giving her a chance to change her mind if she wanted to.
Looking at him, smiling again, "Why, of course I knew that. They told me at the front desk." Remembering the guards' shocked expressions when she said she still wanted him. "Hmm, they seemed surprised that I'd still pay. Should it matter that you're a vampire? It doesn't bother me, so..."
With that she ended her statement, starting for the door.
"Just making sure that that wasn't a problem for you Miss Mikaila," Gaileth said as he then followed her towards the door. He picked up his weapons from the front desk. The he asked,"Is there anything you want to say to me before joining your guardian that's waiting for us outside?"
"No, no problem at all." In fact, being a vampire means that -he- can't kill you as easily, she thought, while brushing a stray thread from her bear's head. At his question, her expression faltered from that of the smiling child she was acting as. Can he tell i'm pretending, no i'm sure that's not it, she thought, quickly reverting back to her childish act. Turning to him she brought her finger to her lips, like a librarian might do to tell someone to be quiet. "There are things that can't be said around many ears." At this, she turned and ran out to the car. Her 'uncle' was already up front, sitting next to the limo driver, Oh, good, he won't be sitting with us then, grimacing at the thought, Mikaila realized something. Oops, I forgot this whole time to ask his name, looking at the door to the slave shop. Hmm, I'll ask when we're in the car, 'uncle' (said sarcastically) will probably ignore us then, that'll make this ride even better. (not having to listen to her 'uncle' talking XD)
Hmm, yes, I can see her faking it to protect herself by doing that. This guardian must be a greedy for her money. Gaileth thought after her expression faltered for a moment. "I agree with that," Gaileth said as he watched her go out of the store and to the car.Apparently, he's not the brightest one in the bunch or he would have her dead already before now. Gaileth thought as he followed her out to the car and to his new life as a slave.
When Gaileth got into the car, the driver pulled away from the slave shop. The window that seperated the driver and passenger seat from the back area of the limo had been closed, so that Mikaila wouldn't have to deal with her 'uncle' for most of the ride. "So, I don't know how I forgot to ask this but, what's your name? Also, i'm assuming you need clothing, so we'll be stopping at some stores on the way. Is there anything else you might need?"
"I'm Gaileth Luther and I would need somethings to sharpen and clean my swords with and that would be about it. Besides some new clothes,"Gaileth said as he was thinking when would be a good time to tell her that he was telepathic without her guardian knowing. Most likely when we go shopping and he's not near the both of us. He thought as then watched the scenery go by."What's your usual day schedule like each day?"Gaileth asked her as he turned his face back at her.
"Gaileth, hmm, what an interesting name. Right, well i'm sure there will be some store you can get those things at. When they drop us at the mall, we'll look for one." To his question, Mikaila thought for awhile before replying. Hmm, my daily schedule, well there is the garden, but 'uncle' doesn't know about that, so I can't say anything right now. And any official business, like the lawyers is handled by -him- at the moment. "Well, every other day I go riding with my horse Carrot. There are the few occasions where I have to make appearances at these snobby society luncheons, or other parties. But, my daily schedule? Well there isn't very much to my schedule. I tend to do whatever I feel. The grounds around the manor are fairly large, so, every once in awhile the maids and I play soccer or something else to keep busy. One of the rooms in the manor is a gym, there's not too much in there, some excercise equipment, but not much. There's a pool in the room next to it. I usually go in there whenever the weather is too bad to go out, or when I don't feel like doing anything else." There's also father's library, but I can't talk about my parent's near 'uncle' since their death is why he thinks i'm like this (the way she's pretending to be), and he thinks talking about them would make me worse. "Hmm, well I think that's about it."
Gaileth's left eye brow went up after hearing her thoughts that she didn't said aloud. "Alright, add to that a defensive/offensive class. Even thought I'm here now to protect you, you never know when you will need to defend yourself when I can't be there or I'm already dead."He said as he wondered what she would think about that and when were they going to stop.
As mikaila was going to say something, the car pulled to a stop. She made a complete 180 back into her child personality. When her 'uncle' opened the window to announce that they'd arrived, mikaila chimed "Did ya hear that uncle, i'm gonna learn to fight," she pumped her fists into the air. This should be interesting, 'uncle's' gonna hate it. But, I get it, Gaileth's right, I should learn to defend myself. It's not like i'm weak though, seeing as i've managed to keep myself alive till now.
Smiling to hide his annoyance, "That's wonderful miss mikaila." Ugh, as if this girl wasn't already hard enough to get rid of. Just more trouble then I need. "Before you go shopping, I just wanted to remind you that I will not be around the manor for a few days. There are some personal matters I must attend to. So, John (the driver, last second naming, not that it's important XD) will drop me at the manor and I will get my car and go home. He'll be right back out here to pick you both up after."
"Alright 'uncle', see you in a few days then." Looking over at Gaileth, smiling slightly. Opening the door, mikaila hopped out onto the curb skipping towards the door.
He heard both Mikaila's first and her 'uncle's' thoughts. He grinned but was able to hide the grin from the evil uncle with his hair.If you didn't want her to be 'protected' well you should have gotten someone else laddie as I'm going to do everything that I can to protect her from you.
(so the next post starts with mikaila realizing gaileth can speak in his/her whoever's mind...but since we were taking out the maeve bits then just assume there was something else said or that occurred in this space in between that made her realize)
Stopping for a second, her eyebrow raised as she thought, wait a second, I didn't say anything out loud before...her confusion showing. "I didn't say anything before about"....Realization setting in, her eyes widening for a second, "Ohhh....so you can hear what people are thinking, well that's very interesting." Almost suddenly, Mikaila started laughing, "Oh, well this is grand. Hah, and 'uncle' has no idea. Oh My, haha, I could only imagine the things he was thinking. Goodness that must've been a treat listening to everything that was going on in his head." Composing herself, and with a serious tone now, "Well, at least now you know who has been trying to kill me. But you probably don't know why he bothered bringing me to that slave shop in the first place. It may have been under the guise of getting a bodyguard, but that traitorous snake has some other plan." Before turning to go into the mall, lowering her voice, she added "Anyway, wide open places like this are not suited for conversations of this sort." With that she headed inside.
Good point, well first things first, he's not really my uncle. He's the family butler, and for whatever reason, when I was younger, I continuously called him uncle. But he's just a conniving snake, he inherits my fortune if I don't make it to my 18th birthday. He has no idea that I know anything, that's one of the reasons for my act. If he did know, he'd probably have aready shot me dead. He's tried poisoning me quiet a few times. Why that hasn't worked, I can better explain when we get to the manor. But on to why we were at the slave shop. Sneekly... "That is his name by the way, Sylvester Sneekly." (pffft XD that name will always make me laugh XD) Anyway, he plans on using you as his scapegoat. When he was able to get rid of me, he'd say you (just whoever they were to get at the shop, since he had his plan before then >>; ) were the one that killed me. That way, he'd get away with it. Leaving it at that for the moment, as she stopped to look at one store's window display.
The store she'd stopped in front of, had a bunch of masks stacked together in the window. Frowning slightly, she dug into the pocket of her dress, pulling out a little card with gold lettering. "I knew I forgot something." Sighing, she handed the invite card to Gaileth. "There's going to be a masked ball soon, so you'll have to look for some kind of formal wear too, and a mask." Looking back at the window display, with a small smile,"The little bit of mystery a masque can offer is kind of fun huh. You never know who's behind a mask."
Gaileth said plainly as it pained him still at times.Need to focus on the here and now with Mikaila. He thought as he stored all the information that Mikaila have given him just now. Sylvester Sneekly? Maybe that's why he's such a pain to people. He thought as he looked at the window display for the masks' shop."Alright, let's go in and see what mask that we want."
Looking down at the stuffed bear still in her arms, Mikaila pet its head, her mind wandering briefly. (there is a reason for her always carrying that bear around...but she will not say why right now XD) Nodding in response to Gaileth's mention of the masks. Mikaila put the bear into her purse that she'd taken from the car, walking into the store.
Looking at the walls of masks, Mikaila picked up one of first masks she saw and put it on. Trying to lighten the earlier mood, she turned to Gaileth with the mask on, (it's the red cat mask at the very end of the top line of masks in the post) and in an attempt to imitate a cat,"Meow, meow."
Then he saw Mikaila with red cat mask on and heard her meow. He chuckled and smiled. Gaileth saw one mask that he decided to wear incase she happened to be there. The mask covered the left side of the face and showed the other half of the person's face. It's like the Phantom of the Opera broadway production mask with the hat attached as well. It fit him and he showed it to Mikaila. "This is the mask I choose, are you going to choose that cat's mask?"
She smiled when he did. When he showed her the mask he tried on "Oh, that's a good mask. Hmm, yes, I think i'll get the cat one." Before bringing the mask to the counter, she grabbed another one as well. "I like this one too, think i'll get it as well, in case I change my mind about wearing the cat one later." She put them both on the counter and waited for the person behind the register to ring up the purchase for her masks and gaileth's mask. She pulled a credit card from her purse and gave it to the cashier. He swiped it and gave it back to her, and put the masks in a bag. She took the bag and made her way out the door. "And now on to the next store." She stopped just outside the mask shop to look at the board that was placed on a stand there. It had been the directory for the mall, a little map with all the stores in the place. "So you still have to get clothes and stuff for your sword(s), hmm there's a little shop down that part of the mall that might have the things you need for your sword(s). Or it might just be an antique store, i'm not too sure. And then there are quite a few clothing stores in that direction." For the 'might just be an antique store' she pointed to the right of where she stood, and for the clothing stores, she pointed straight ahead.
He took of the Phantom's mask off and pass it to the cashier to put it in the bag with the other two masks that Mikaila chose."Personally, it doesn't matter which store we go to next." Gaileth said as he looked at the mall map as well.
"Hmm, let's go for clothes first then. That'll probably take longer, so, better to get it done with sooner rather then later." Mikaila moved away from the mall map and went straight for the nearest clothing store, going inside once she reached the door.
Gaileth was about to follow Mikaila into the store when he realized what store it was.He blushed and walked away from the entrance but still able to see her in the store. {I don't need anything from this store,} Gaileth told her at he looked at the name of the store and it was Victoria's Secrets. When he glanced at the naughty window display, he blushed even more and looked away from it.
Mikaila hadn't paid much attention to what store she'd walked into, but after hearing what gaileth said(in her head), she looked around at everything there. Oh, oh my... she blushed, more embaressed by the fact she walked into the Victoria's Secret without realizing it was -this- store. eheh i didn't realize what store this was. Sorry. She was about to walk out but then stopped. Hmm now that i'm in here though, i should look around. I do need some things. I'll be out soon. (ooc: something to wear under her dress...i will add a picture of that in another post, i found a nice one that goes with her masks) She got one of the employees to help her find what she needed. She paid and walked out of the store, noticing the naughty window display when she was out, she blushed. I don't know how I missed that. She walked over to where Gaileth was standing. "I am so sorry about that." She turned, ready to go on to the next store. "Eheh, now let's find somewhere for you to shop."
"It's okay, it happens,"Gaileth said as they passed the Victoria's Secrets store. He wasn't blushing anymore and the next store that they came to was a tuxedo and other formal wear attire clothing store."Aye, here we go Mikaila, let's go in here."He said going inside but keeping an eye for someone who might harm Mikaila.
While Gaileth and Mikaila had been busy shopping, a man wearing a dark hooded jacket, with a baseball cap tilted over his eyes, had strolled into the mall. He walked quickly past the store with the masks, while the two were in it. The man made his way to one of the benches that were placed around the mall for tired shoppers, one far enough away from the store, so the two wouldn't notice him, and yet close enough to keep watch. When they'd left the mask shop, he pulled out his cell pretending to take a call. From the corner of his eye he watched as Mikaila went into Victoria's Secret, While Gaileth waited outside for her. He put his cell away once the two moved on to the next store, and got up to follow. He looked around, noting that the area of the mall they were in was practically empty. Good, this makes my job a whole lot easier. Tch, I can't believe the ton of money I'm gonna get for getting rid of this girl. He pulled a gun from his pocket and took aim at Mikaila, once he'd seen gaileth go into the store. The gun had a silencer attached, so that noone would hear the shot.
Mikaila was inches from the entrance of the store, when something whizzed past her face, barely missing her and hitting into the nearest wall. She froze, her eyes widening as a sudden chill ran down her spine. She glanced sideways, seeing the man with his arm extended and the gun still aimed. So many things ran through her mind, one of them being to run. Another part of her was wondering why in hell this part of the mall was so empty now. She wanted to run, but her body wouldn't cooperate with what her mind was telling it to do. Gaileth, she shouted through her thoughts, her body shaking, as she was too terrified to move now when she'd heard the click of the gun, as the man got ready to shoot again.
"Mikaila! Get in and down!"Gaileth yelled at her before reaching her.Damn! I didn't think that Sneakly would try something this soon, he thought as he put himself between Mikaila and the gunman. Then he pulled out his small hand pistol out and shot the man in the knee so he couldn't just run away. I'll feed on him after I get Mikaila hidden safely in the store, Gaileth though as his brown eyes started to turn red as he smelled the blood from the man's wound.{I'm going to use him to feed and I rather you not see me do that Mikaila.} He thought to her as he then turned away from the gunman and took her into the store. "Don't leave here until I get back unless you really want to watch me feed on him out side.Find something for me to wear here while you're here." {Or if someone else tries to take you out,}Gaileth said and thought as he left her deep inside the store and then picked up the gunman and took him outside to feed on the gunman's blood.{Keep talking to me mentally of how you're doing in there.} He thought to her before he started to feed on the man outside.
Mikaila wanted to run in when she heard Gaileth yell, but the gunman still had the gun pointed at her. What if he shot the second she turned to run into the store, whether she stayed where she was or moved, she'd be hit either way. Gaileth was now suddenly in front of her, and he'd pulled a pistol on the gunman. Mikaila flinched at the sound of the shot from Gaileth's pistol. She watched as the man fell backwards, in obvious pain, seeing as gaileth had just shot the man's knee. If Mikaila's eyes hadn't already gone so wide from the shock of all that was happening, once she saw the change in Gaileth's eyes, hers would've gone even wider then. She couldn't think clearly enough to respond to Gaileth's thought, so instead, she just nodded her head. Then Gaileth pulled her into the store, taking her further in. Her nerves were completely rattled, when she answered everything he said and thought with a stuttered "A-alright," she realized her voice practically came out as a frightened squeek. When Gaileth left, she could hear the screams of the gunman as gaileth went to take him outside to feed on him. She couldn't hear anything after a minute or so, which meant that gaileth had the man outside now. She imagined the gunman would probably still be screaming as Gaileth fed on him. This made her think about his comment to her on not leaving unless she actually wanted to see him feed off the man. The more she thought about it, she finally had to admit to herself that there was indeed some part of her personality (the darker more twisted part, deep down in her subconcious) that would've urged her to follow them outside. She shook her head, as if to shake that whole thought out of her mind. Still shaking slightly, she moved through the racks of clothing, trying to focus on only the clothes to calm herself down. She gave Gaileth a mental update, like he told her to. Everything's fine here...still no people around though... There was a crashing noise that made her whip around so fast, you might've heard a 'whoosh' of air. Mikaila looked for the source of the noise, and finally saw a few feet away one employee. The gangly looking fellow was on the floor with a bunch of mannequin parts scattered around him. He was rubbing the back of his head as he sat there. There is one very clumsy sales person nearby now. The employee looked up at her now, and scrambling to his feet, he quickly apologized for not being around to help her with finding anything in the store. (he noticed she was already holding some things.) He ran back to where he'd dropped the mannequin pieces, and started picking them up. Mikaila grabbed a few more things off the racks and brought them to one of the fitting rooms. I put some things in the fitting room for you, since I don't know your size, i'm hoping something i picked up fits you. She stood outside the door of the fitting room and waited for Gaileth to come back into the store.
It didn't take Gaileth long to drain the gunman dry and then went back inside to join Mikaila. After he entered the mall, he first went to the closest restroom to wash off any blood off his hands and face so it wouldn't freak Mikaila out when she saw him again. His dark brown eyes were almost black color but not quite and his eyes were back to normal after his feeding. That should last me for the next two days,Gaileth thought as he went back to the formal clothing store.{Are you okay? You still seem jumpy, which I can't blame you for being after being shot at like that.} He asked and sad as he entered the store and saw Mikaila back at the dressing rooms."Thanks for finding some outfits for me to try on Mikaila,"He said as he then went into the stall that the clothes were in. There were two suits that she picked out that wasn't the right size. Then there was two suits that were styled alike but different colors. He tried on the one that had the red vest and black coat and pants. He then put on his two swords belts to see how it looked with the suit."What do you think of this one?" Gaileth asked as he came out to show her.
Well, I'd be lying if I said I was completely okay after that. She stopped her thought for a second, debating how to continue it. I guess i'd say i'm as okay as i can be after that. heh, as for being jumpy, add a little bit of paranoia to the mix, and that's me right now. That sales guy crashing into things didn't help that fact either.
"Well hopefully I managed to pick out something you could actually wear."
When Gaileth came out of the fitting room with one of the suits on, she looked him up and down. With a slight red flush on her cheeks, she smiled and said "Wow, You look great. Very handsome. With your swords, you look like one of those characters from a victorian era novel."
{Know what you mean there.Dodging other slayers out there can be a real pain in the a--,} Gaileth thought to her after reading her thoughts. "You did get a few in my size including this one that I'm wearing." Gaileth pretended to not see her blushing. "Wished that I could say that I lived in that time period but I didn't. I'm fifty years old now and was turned to a vampire when I was twenty-five years old so I look only 25. So by your reaction that this is the suit we should get." He said before going back into the dressing room to change back into his regular clothes.{I do have a question though, how often does Sneakly try to kill you?} he asked before coming back out with the suit back on the hanger.
Finding interest in what he just thought, 'other slayers,' so you're a slayer too? "Oh, good." "That would've been cool if you did live in that time period. But, wow, so you were twenty-five when you were turned. Definitly, that suit is perfect." She took the credit card back out of her purse, while she thought, Hmm, well there's no real consistency with how often he tries to kill me, the times he tries to are just sort of random. He first started trying to kill me when I was 16, mainly he just used poison. He'd poison my food like once every two weeks. He got more persistent after a few months, when that didn't work. He started tampering with things around the manor, making little accidents happen. That he did a couple times every few weeks. He spooked my horse one time, i got thrown off and hit my head. Mikaila tapped the side of her head, But, i've got a pretty thick skull, so it can take a lot of damage. Hmm, but he hasn't tried anything for awhile. Well, until today anyway. He's never done something this extreme, so he must be getting desperate. At least I know he won't be trying to do anything for awhile. Usually when one of his plots doesn't work, he disappears for a few days. But when he comes back, he's usually got something up his sleeve. I would imagine after this, he'll be coming back with something even bigger, more drastic. She went to the counter with her card, waiting while the salesperson rang up the charge on the suit.
{Yes, I was a slayer before I knew that my grandfather was a vampire and before he turned me. Hmm, when is your 18th birthday? If Sneakly becoming more desperate, he may not wait as long in between attempts on your life.} Gaileth thought to her as the salesman put the suit into a hanging bag and then passed it back to Gaileth."It will go well with mask as well or the mask will go well with the suit." He said as they left the store, still keeping an eye out for anymore wackos that want to kill Mikaila.
Your grandfather, goodness, seems you've had quite a crazy life so far. Eh, wellll, it's next week . I know he won't be waiting so long between attempts now, but the two days he said he'd be away, are definitly guaranteed. "So either way you put it, one thing will go well with the other. So that's good." She stayed close to Gaileth now, looking around cautiously. "So, now, you still need things from that store for your swords, and regular clothing of course." And John (driver) has probably gotten back here by now and is waiting outside for us. So, we should probably move quickly now. That and I don't think I want to be around here much longer, in case anything else happens. She grimaced at the thought.
"True but it's not bad sometimes. Alirght, here we are."Gaileth answered aloud to her. Then wrapping an arm around her shoulders, he went into the the next clothing shop.
Smiling, "Well, that's good," she said to what he first said. Now, she may have been scared out of her mind and paranoid before, after what had happened, and the thought that something else might still happen. But, when Gaileth wrapped an arm around her shoulders, she felt better, calmer even. She didn't know why, but it definitly did make her feel better then she had before. "Thank You," she said to him, even if he might not get why she was saying it.
She glanced around at the seemingly vast amount of clothing in this store. "Quite a large selection they have here."
"Your welcome,"Yes, he did know what she meant when she said thank you. He looked around the store and grabbed some clothes, mostly in dark colors but with a few lighter ones. He didn't bother trying them as he checked the size of the clothes before taking them."Alright, I think this enough for now Mikaila." He said as he let go of her to hold the clothes that he was getting.
"Okay then," she went to the register to pay, and waited for the cashier to put everything into a bag.
"So now there's just that last store." She noticed the store with the swords was right across from the store they were currently in. "Well, that's convienient, it's right there. heh, and it's definitly not an antique store (from what she said sometime before), so whatever you need will most likely be there."
"Yes, it is,"Gaileth said as he then went into the store and found what he needed. Then he found some practice swords and other weapons that would suit her once she knew how to use them. He took what he wanted to get to the cashier. "I also need need more ammo for my gun here and loads of it too."Gaileth said as he showed the man his gun. The cashier got the ammo and rang up the total of everything and it ended up being close to five thousand dollars.
When she saw the price, she dug into her purse and pulled out a check book. "Are checks alright?" The cashier nodded, so Mikaila wrote out the price and signed the check. In case Gaileth thought to ask, she explained through her thoughts. I made a secret account a few years ago, seeing as I don't trust Sneakly not to check the family account to see if any money is missing. So, he'd notice if that much money was gone. He doesn't know about this account though, so I can use it for whatever. Once that was done, she went outside to where the driver was waiting to pick them up. The driver pulled away from the mall once they had gotten in the car.
~sometime later~
The driver pulled to a stop in front of the manor. He got out and came around to the other side and opened the door for Mikaila and Gaileth.

{That's smart of you do.} Gaileth said as he took the bags of stuff and he looked like a pack horse with the amount of stuff that he was carrying but it didn't bother him one bit. When they reached the house, Gaileth was impressed with it. "Nice house you have here. How big is the grounds?" He asked as he got out of the car.
"Thanks," she smiled, then continued. "Hmm, the area out back and the manor combined, I'd say it's about an acre. It's basically about the size of a regular football field. A lot of green out back, nice trees, and a small patio for sitting outside, there's also a green house. The area out back is definitly good for horse-back riding too, and really anything else you could think of doing with such a large space." The door opened when she finished speaking and someone zipped past Mikaila and Gaileth, grabbed the bags out of the car before anybody could say otherwise, and ran back inside. Pointing after the person that blurred past, "Um, and that would be Nicole. She's one of the maids here, and she always does that. I've told her before she doesn't have to, but she still does that. No bag has gone past the front door in my own hands, she always takes them from me." Once they got past the front door, two maids and one of the other butlers were there to greet them. "Welcome home," they all said. "Gaileth, this is Nicole, Kay, and Cale," she motioned to each one as she said their names, "and the driver outside is John. These three are usually somewhere around the manor. There are others who work here, but as there's never too much to be done around here, they only come here on certain days." They each smiled and said hello to him, then scattered and went back to whatever they'd been doing before. Mikaila walked through the room they were in, a couple plush couches were placed in some spots, the only other thing was the piano near one of the windows. It was the living room. She went to where the stairs were, walked up and across the second floor till she reached one of the nearest doors. "This will be your room." She opened the door and went in, the bags from the mall were there leaning against the
Gaileth said hello to each person as they were introduced to him. When they were inside, he took a good look of each room that they went through."Unless there's somethings you have to do now, could you go ahead and give me the grand tour of the house and grounds?" Gailther ask he wanted to be familiar with the whole estate, the sooner, the better.
"Alright, no problem." She turned back around from that room, and went further across the second floor, she opened the last door on that floor. "And, this is my room, as you can see, all the bedrooms reside on the second floor here. There are two bathrooms on this floor, one is connected to the second room I showed you, and the other is connected to my room. There's one larger bathroom downstairs." User Image She shut the door to her room and went down the stairs. Mikaila went over to a room with old double doors. She looked around, making sure no one was nearby, then she opened the doors and waited for Gaileth to walk into the room before she shut them. There were many shelves with books along the walls of the room. "This was my father's library. I like coming here to get away from everything. It's nice sitting down to read a good book." She stopped to run her fingers over the binding of one of the books, her eyes distant. Maybe she was remembering the story from this book, or something else. She turned to Gaileth, snapping herself out of her reverie, "Feel free to come to this room whenever you'd like." Mikaila hurried out the door, again shutting it once Gaileth was out of the room. They passed the kitchen, moving towards the otherside of the manor. She opened another door, and went into that room. The room was pretty empty, with the exception of a few pieces of excercise equipment. The room was connected to one of the bigger areas of the manor, which was where the pool was located. User Image "And, this would be the last room, the pool." There were doors on the other side of the room, that lead outside. Mikaila went around and opened those doors and went outside. They were now outside, on the patio overlooking the grounds. The stable where her horse was housed, was just off to the right of where they were standing. A good walk along the grounds would take them to where the greenhouse was (to her garden that was reffered to sometime ago). It was hard to see through the windows of the greenhouse, so you couldn't see what was inside. Mikaila stopped in front of the greenhouse, she wouldn't open the doors...yet. "Well, now that's everything. But I have a question for you before you can see what's in here." You might think it's a little strange though. "Seeing as you are a vampire, I wouldn't know if this would affect you or not. But, my question, can you be poisoned? I mean, can anything poisonous have any affect on you or not?" It's a strange question, but it's important.
Gaileth liked his room was connected to her bedroom so he reach her quicker if someone tried to kill Mikaila during the night. He followed her around the house and grounds.{I know but there's nothing that I know of off the top of my mind about that.}He answered her in her mind.
She frowned at what he said to her question of poisons. "Hmm, that's not very reassuring. Just to be safe..." She turned around, taking out a key from her pocket, to open a tool trunk that was next to the door. To anyone it looked like there were just a bunch of tools stashed there at the bottom, but Mikaila pulled at a loose nail and the bottom popped up slightly. Underneath was a metal lock box, she opened that and pulled out a little vial filled with a purple liquid. She put the bottom back how it was and locked the trunk again. She handed the little vial to Gaileth, "Since i'd prefer you not die, drink this. Better to be safe then sorry. Your body might feel a little strange when you first drink it, but you'll be fine. It's just an antidote of sorts."
"Well, the only way to truly kill a vampire for good would be to put a stake through the heart, behead him or her and burn their remains. There are some things out that can make us sick and knock us out cold for a while but not dead."Gaileth said to her as he took the vial from her. He studied the purple liquid before drinking it. Gaileth did feel a little strange after drinking the stuff but better safe than sorry later."What was all in that mixture?"
"Well, that is certainly a gruesome way to go." She bit her lip in an attempt not to laugh at how he first studied what was in the vial before drinking it. "So suspicious. It's nothing bad, I guess you can call it a kind of preventative. I made it myself, it has various things mixed into it." She turned and opened the door to the greenhouse and went in. She shut the door once Gaileth was inside. There was a purple mist inside the greenhouse. Numerous different colored plants were growing inside.
"If you were someone who was susceptible to poisons, the air alone in here could kill you. I made that little elixir so that anyone other then me that might come in here, doesn't die. Well, unless of course it was someone I wanted dead, then I wouldn't tell them about it. You remember I said Sneakly has tried to poison me, many times before? Well, this here is my little hobby, I like to grow poisonous plants. I collect the poisonous juices from them and make my own concoctions. I make the antidotes to them as well. " Mikaila took a water spray bottle from a table and went down one of the rows of plants and started spritzing them. "Since i've tested them mostly on myself, i'm immune to basically any kind of poison. Which is why i'm not dead yet." Her expression darkened briefly as she thought of this, in fact, with how much poison i've had running through my blood, i'd say i'm like one of these plants now. Sighing, "Sneakly has no idea what's in here. He thinks it's just full of tools and other junk, so he won't come here at the risk of getting his clothes dirty. He's a neat freak to the extreme."
"Well, we all have our own secrets, now don't we?"He said with a smile.Wow, I'm impress that she has done all of this. Mind that it's sort of creepy but she does it for her own protection as well. He thought to himself as he looked around the different plants in the green house.
Smiling back when he said this, "too true" She continued spraying water on the plants, stopping at some and examining them.
he noticed that Mikaila was examining two plants and walked over to where she was."What are those two plants?"Gaileth asked as he didn't recognized them.
Pointing at the one with the big red/green leaves, User Image"That's caladium, or Elephant Ears as they're usually called. Elephant Ears, because of how big the leaves are. They're nice for decoration, but if eaten, they are poisonous. They can cause irritation of the skin, pain, and swelling, usually of the mouth and tongue. Basically it makes it impossible for a person to breath." Plucking up one of the flowers
"Now, this one is a Honeysuckle plant, this one isn't really poisonous. I have quite a few normal plants in here. I like this one because of the flowers, they're pretty and sweet." She continued in case he wondered what she meant by 'sweet.' She snapped the stem of the flower and a sweet scent rose from it. A gooey looking substance seeped out of it as well. "See, when you break the stem, there's a really sweet smell. But the thing that's 'sweet,' is that gooey stuff there. It's actually honey, not like what you'd get from a bee-hive, but similar. So, it's a pretty flower, as well as a sweet treat."
"I though that was honeysuckle but wasn't sure. I'm used to only seeing the white flower variety of the honeysuckle plant."
"Well there are quite a few varieties of honeysuckle. The white is the most commonly grown. The ones with different colors are harder to grow. Here," she plucked another one of the flowers and handed it to Gaileth. Finishing off the honey from the flower she was holding before, delighting in the sweet taste, Mikaila took a little notebook from the purse she was still holding. She put the flower in between the pages and pressed it down, "this is like my little catalogue of all the plants in here."
~~Inside the manor~~
The phone was ringing, and Nicole, being nearby, picked it up, "Hello? Oh mr. Sneakly....yes, she did come back from shopping. Would you like to speak with her? No? Oh okay then, bye." Hanging up the phone, Nicole went back to whatever she was doing, waiting for mikaila to come back inside so she could tell her.
~~somewhere else~~
Sneakly slammed the phone down, "Damn! What does it take to get rid of this girl." He expected Mikaila to already be dead, not to be home. How did the shooter he hired mess up. He was pacing in his room now, trying to think of what to do. "I have to get rid of her soon....but how, nothing else has worked. She's like a roach that just won't die. Hmm, maybe..."
Gaileth accepted the flower from Mikaila and took the sweet honey from it.
"Several friends of mine would do the same as well." "So are you going to make any types of potions in here today?" He asked with a neutral look on his face even though he was wondering about now is which servants that were in the house that he could trust.
Putting the little notebook back into her bag, she went further into the greenhouse, coming back a few seconds later.
User ImageShe was holding a stone bowl and grinder. Placing it on the table with the plants, she pulled off a couple of the elephant ear leaves. "Yes, I'll be making one out of the leaves from this plant. It won't take me long." Crushing the leaves in her hands and then dropping them into the bowl, she started grinding the leaves. After a few minutes, the leaves were completely grinded down, and liquified. Grabbing a little glass vial, Mikaila poured the now orange colored mix into it, putting a cap over it. "See, finished. Never takes very long to make any of these...unless I'm mixing a few different types."
Gaileth wondered if she had ever tried to poison the butler. But he doubted it as it would have put him on alert to her game. He watched her ground the elephant ear leaves in the bowl and then poured it into the bottle. "Beside the butler, is the rest of the staff loyal to you or to him?" Gaileth asked her as he wondered how much longer they would be in the greenhouse.
Before turning towards the direction of the door, Mikaila put the little vial into her bag. "The rest are loyal to me. They don't particularly like Sneakly, partly because of what he's been trying to do." Looking around, making sure she didn't forget anything. "Hmm, I guess I'm done here. Let's go back, there may be some news." She walked out, waiting for Gaileth, and then closed the door when he was out too. "And by news, I mean info about Sneakly. The others are my eyes and ears when it comes to anything he might be up to. They let me know what they've seen or heard, whenever he's around. Or, if he calls, for any reason."
"Alright, that's good to know,"Gaileth said as he followed her out of the greenhouse. "Oh when is the masked ball going to take place?"Gaileth asked her as he wondered.
As they started walking back to the manor, "Oh, the ball is in a couple days, it's the day before my birthday actually." Nicole was standing with the door open, waiting for them, "Ah, Kai, finally. Sneakly called just a bit ago. He sounded quite grouchy, especially when I told him that you were home. You'd think he'd get used to dissapointment by now. Vile old man, he's probably plotting away right now." Mikaila chuckled slightly at the first part of what she said, "when is he not grouchy. Thank you Nicole." Nicole ran back in, towards the kitchen now. Mikaila waited for Gaileth, before closing the door again. Vile old man indeed...
Gaileth followed her back up to the manor."That he is, a vile old man." He agreed with Mikaila and Nicole and he wondered how Mikaila's parents died."You don't have to answer this if it bothers you but how exactly did your parents die?" Gaileth asked her, hoping that she wouldn't freak out or anything.
That question echoed in her mind, her body tensing. She knew that the topic of their death would have come up at some point, but it still hit her like a ton of bricks. Hesitantly she muttered out, "it was a fire. They died in a fire." Her eyes blank, showing no emotion, as she tried to maintain a level of calm. "The official statement was that it was an accident, a fire caused by faulty wiring or something like that. Everyone believed it was an accident...it's a lie though. That was no accident. I know it wasn't, not after what I saw."
One hand was balled into a fist, the other unconsciously gripping onto the bear, still in her purse. She kept her head down, now staring at the floor. Mikaila feared that if she looked up at Gaileth, she wouldn't be able to keep her calm and she'd burst into tears. "They were going there to meet someone, they said it was a business meeting. I was supposed to meet them when they were finished, so our driver brought me over to where they'd gone. When we'd gotten there, the place was already consumed in flames....I remember running, screaming....I was yelling for my parents, hoping they weren't in that inferno. The driver went to call for help. There was someone running away from the scene, I chased after him...but I tripped and fell."
Her calm was slipping away, as she tried to blink back tears. "No one would believe me, they thought I was just in shock or something. Of course I was in shock, who wouldn't be after seeing all that. But I know what I saw, I wasn't imagining that. Part of me died the day they did and I won't forgive the monster that took them from me." She buried her face in her hands now, as she couldn't stop the tears pooling from her eyes. People avoided talking about the event around her, so she never really said all of this to anyone before. She'd buried all the pain and sadness from that day, for years. But, saying it all out loud now, dug everything up, and it all came pouring out.
Gaileth could have shot himself for asking her that after seeing her reaction. It brought back the memories of his best friends' deaths, which were Maeve's parents almost five years ago."Come here, I'm sorry Mikaila. I should have let you bring that up instead of asking you about it today. "[seagreen] He said as he pulled her close to him to comfort her. Both Maeve and Mikaila lost their parents in flames. One on a house fire and the other in a car fire. He debated about telling her how Maeve's folks passed and decided to as as it may give her some comfort somehow.
"I lost my two best friends in the world back five years ago this coming May the 18th. They died in a car crashed that went up in flames. The night before they died, it had stormed badly and the roads going out of Tullamore were in bad shape but they were needed in Dublin so they went in their small car and went. The road that they took was a mountain road and when they got half way up the the mountain side, Iian lost control of the car and it went off the side of the mountain to their deaths. The car flipped several times on it's way down and the fact that it was a small car, both Mallory and Iian died from impact while being tossed around in the car. The car burst into flames after in hit the tree line at the bottom of the mountain. I was first to find out that their car was found on fire at the base of the mountain, right outside the the city's limits. I thought I was having a heart attack after hearing the news from the policeman that called the house as I was staying there at the house with Maeve as she was recovering from the stomach flu and was taking care of her for her parents while they were gone. The worst thing was telling Maeve that her parents were dead and then having to take her out to the site to identify the car. Then going over to the dentist's office to get her parents' dental records and taking them to the morgue so they could positively say that the two bodies found in the car were her parents. We met Mallory's brother and his wife at the morgue before going in so they could fill out any papers that needed to be filled out so Maeve wouldn't have to that were family as well."
Gaileth started to tear up while talking about Mallory's and Iian's deaths.
Gaileth finished as he held on to Mikaila for comfort as well but not too tight or he might crush her with his strength.
If she weren't balling her eyes out, Mikaila would've told him that there was no reason to apologize for asking about it. She'd probably still be in this state, whether she brought it up herself at another time or not. It was just painful to talk about it, and keeping it locked up like she did for so long, made it even worse.
Her body lightly shaking from her sobbing, she rubbed her eyes with her sleeve, before Gaileth had pulled her closer to him. Leaning against him, as he held her, her sobbing quieted. She sniffled, tears still in her eyes, as he started speaking. It felt as if she couldn't stop herself from crying more, as she listened, sad for what happened to her parents and what happened to Gaileth's friends.
The strangest thing though, was now she felt an odd sense of relief. Maybe it was because she wasn't alone, that she wasn't the only one that had gone through something so painful.
Tilting her head, she saw he'd started to tear up. I'm sorry Gaileth. Wrapping her arms around him, she held onto him. She was hoping that would comfort him some, like what he was doing for her. Her thoughts somewhat quieter as she continued, a-and thank you.
Gaileth's tears continued to flow down his face as he felt Mikaila wrap her arms around him.It did comfort him that she was trying to comfort him as well."Thank you Mikaila and your welcome."He said as he looked down at her. "If anyone tells you that vampires can't love or cry, you know that they are lying and you can set them straight on that."Gaileth said as he used his left hand to wipe away tears from his eyes. Mikaila needed the protection that he can offer her from that b******d butler of hers that keeps trying to kill her.
Nodding, “Oh, I’ll definitely set them straight if anybody ever tells me that.” Using her sleeve, she dried her eyes, as it seemed the onslaught of tears had ceased. Wrapping her arms around him, she hugged him once more, before stepping back and motioning towards the door that led in to the rest of the manor “Shall we?” [as in, shall we get out of this room now] They were still in the area where the pool was, as that was where they’d exited from to go out to the greenhouse out back.
~upstairs~
Vincent [believe that was one of the names I used] was upstairs, dusting and sweeping out the rooms. But he couldn't stop his eyes from wandering to the bag with the weapons Gaileth had gotten. After finishing with the rooms, his curiosity got the better of him. Opening the bag, Vincent looked at the different things that were there. And he's really going to be teaching Mikaila how to use this stuff. Well that should be interesting...She's literally going to be giving Sneakly a run for his money... Leaving the room, Vincent went to see if Nicole needed his help, cleaning in the kitchen.

Standing in front of a fireplace was Sneakly, with papers strewn all over the floor. In his hands was the article on Mikaila’s parents, the one about the night they died in the fire. “If only I knew what that will said then. I could’ve saved myself a whole lot of trouble and just gotten rid of the three of them that night. I’d be filthy rich if that brat wasn’t around…. Hmph, I shouldn’t have let her get that guy as her bodyguard, he’s probably going to give me some trouble now too.” Crumpling up the article and tossing it into the fire, Sneakly watched as the fire crackled around it, burning the paper. Not that it’ll matter….soon I’ll be rid of them both. Turning from the fire with an evil grin, he picked up the scattered papers, to continue his plotting. He knew what he was going to do, but he was waiting for the right moment, then he’d be back…when they’d least expect.

"Yes,"Gaileth said as he felt her draw away from him and let go of her. He didn't know what else to say as he stood there, wondering what to do next as he wiped away his tears with his shirt sleeve. then he thought of going ahead and start teaching her some simple self-defense moves."Let's go back upstairs and get those weapons out and I'll start teaching you the simple basics of self-defense."Gaileth suggested tat they do for now.
At his suggestion, she looked down at her outfit. "Alright, that sounds like a good idea. But, I think I'm going to go change into something other then this." Changing into something more comfortable to move around in would be a good idea. Before going up the stairs, "so, should we stay inside, or go back outside?" She figured she'd suggest going outside, as there would be more room. Also, there would be the less likely chance of something getting broken if they went outside. She knew Nicole and the others might make a fuss otherwise. Running up the stairs, she went into her room and grabbed a red T-shirt and capris and sneakers to change into. To finish, she pulled her hair up into a ponytail, so that it wouldn't get in her way. Mikaila left her room and went to Gaileth's intending to help carry the bag down. That was apparently a bad idea. When she'd lifted the bag, it barely came off the floor more then a few inches. Wah, T-this is so heavy. She didn't expect it to be so heavy, but tried to carry it nonetheless. Only making it as far as the door of the room, she set the bag back on the floor. Pouting a bit in disappointment, how in the world did nicole even get this up the stairs. What is she Supermaid?
"Outside then," Gaileth said as he watched her move. He followed her back up the stairs to find that she brought the bag of weapons to the doorway. "Mika, you shouldn't try carry all that at once. You'll hurt yourself by doing that if you hadn't already . Here, let me take that." Gaileth said picked up the bag easy and then headed back downstairs to go outside to find a spot for them to practice.
Sighing when he got by the door, "I really didn't expect them to be so heavy." She crossed her arms in front of her chest when he lifted the bags with no problem. Muttering, forgetting Gaileth could probably hear her, "show off." About to follow back down the stairs, she stopped, her mind doing a backflip to what he said before. "W-wait...Mika?...Wha-" Mikaila couldn't really figure out what to say, as she followed him down the stairs, a confused expression on her face. That had been unexpected.
Gaileth heard her muttering show off behind him and he chuckled. In some ways, "But it is so don't go trying to pick it all up again unless you are trying to hurt yourself."Gaileth told her while silently chuckling at her response to him calling her Mika. "Come on, time's a wasting unless you changed your mind and want to do something else instead?"Gaileth asked her as he turned around to look at her, wondering if she had changed her mind.
