So I've been thinking about pure-blood families recently and what must be going on with them. Their world has changed, their influence in it has shrunk and yet, I haven't clue why these families seem to be working in isolation.
So I decide to create this thread that will list a specific group of pure-blooded families and various members who are trying to navigate the society while maintaining their power. There are probably many groups, circle, organization, clubs, etc in the Wizarding world, this is just one group. These various groups, clubs, etc probably each have their own set of requirements from seeking members with certain abilities, members that have been sorted into a certain House or have certain intents that run in agreement with the groups own agenda. The Circle also has its own set of requirements. They aren't very specific on who can join, but that you meet a certain level of magical talent, have sent at least one child to Hogwarts, and/or are pure-blood
THIS GROUP ISN'T EVIL! Members can be evils, evil characters can join, but the group has no intention other than keep their own bloodlines pure and keep their sphere of influence strong. Realize that in joining this group, your characters will have to know the others on this list by sight. This is because their families, probably for generations, have known, worked with and attend parties with each other. Your character doesn't have to know another on a personal level, unless your characters already do. Sometimes these families have married into each other, so they could be cousins or distant relatives (check first with the characters creators). Also if you want you could force your child to have to marry another other, you can (only with the permission of the other person). Remember they are not all evil or all against muggle-borns or muggles. Most will accept a person, as long as the person has magical talents and can be considered worthy of respect (a high position in the Ministry or something).
General Membership Rules:
Members know each other on sight, whether members acknowledge each other is another matter.
The group is simple known as the Circle to members.
Circle members aren't openly against muggle-borns. Your family can be privately against them, but if it gets out you will be kicked out.
Members must follow all Wizarding Laws, unless they think they can get away with breaking them. If they can't, then the family will have to banish and wipe the person from their legacy.
A member can always seek the aid and support from other members. It is not a guarantee that the other members they seek will help.
All are welcomed in the Circle, so long as the family is from proper stock (pure-blood only) or the person has prove to be worthy. Membership Form: Family Name: (Place name of family or person here) Member(s): (either of the family as a whole or just the person who is joining) Family History: (How long have they been part of the Circle, what events lead them to joining the Circle or what events might have effect their standing within the Circle, etc)

The Circle What started a band of friends who had been among the first to walk the Halls of Hogwarts, the Circle has now become a symbol and passage to power for many. Not long after the Circle's beginning, three siblings took it upon themselves to organize the Circle members varies histories and advise them when they were in trouble. Over time those who took over the positions were given the title of Counselor. During one point in the Circle's History, the Counselor almost ruled over the families and members, then Generals over Troops. Today however, most the Circle operates on a system of favors and exchanges based on a person's (or family's) resources, skills, or connections. Leaving the Counselors with little need to monitor or direct the families. Thus leaving three Counselors maintain the Circle's records and history, act as advisers during times of trouble or call the Circle members together for important matters. They also are the finally deciders on who can enter and who will be banished from the Circle. In order to gain the position, a person must be nominated for the position. Those people then have to work to convince the others that they deserve their support, if the family is very powerful it can normally convince others to support a certain person. If the get the majority of families to support them, the person gains the position.Counselors ---------------- ---------------- ----------------- The Shamed

Family Name: Bonecrafts Member(s): Cassiopeia (insane), Andromeda (insane), Elizabeth and Aiden Bonecraft Family History: The Bonecrafts at the moment are in a particular situation. Not only is their Patron dead, but he and his son were revealed to had been involved with the dark arts after their deaths. It is only this fact that has kept the Bonecrafts within the Circle. If they two had lived and gone to jail, it would be another matter. Thankfully, they died and people overlook their misfortune in favor of their long loyalty to the Circle. Given their position, Elizabeth has pulled back her family's influence and focuses on aiding Circle members who call upon her in exchange for favors and better connections. Family Name: ThornsMember(s): James, Circe, Locke, Mercia, and Invidia Thorn Family History: The Thorns were there at the very beginning, according to their claims, of the Circle. Currently considered one of the more powerful families among their peers. They had recently suffered set backs. The most recent being when the younger brother of the current Patron of the family was caught in possesion of dark art materials. However the family salvaged themselves by personally overseeing the capture of the rogue member.

Further issues arose when Isabelle gave birth to a squib! They abandoned the boy after it was clear he had no sign of magical ability. But it seemed all cleared up upon the birth of the second son, Lukas, a wonderful wizard who teaches at Hogwarts. Alexander is the Supreme Mugwump of the International Confederation of Wizards British Seats

The man line is still in Italy and the families often travel back and forth keeping the clan strong and united. Their family is tied to a lot of clans around Europe. They have a tendency to take high positions in the Ministry with a long line of the males in the family working in some form of law enforcement. Chance is the current Head Hit Wizard and his wife is a prominent Obilivator. As it stands right now their sons have not joined the circle but they are coming to the age where they hope to induct them.

Family Name: Whitethorne Member(s): Gearvin Whitethorne, Anastasia Whitethorne (nee Jennings), Chalmes, Christopher, and Eretria Whitethorne Family History: The Whitethornes are an older wizarding family from the time of the founding of Hogwarts. They've always been a quiet bunch who have upheld pureblood beliefs and have had a respectable relationship within the Wizarding community. The current head of the household, Gearvin, has experienced some minor setbacks as his two sons, Chalmes and Christopher, are both squibs but he hopes that with a marriage to a promising witch they can continue the family line uninterrupted.

Family Name: Nott Member(s): Theodore Nott the Second, William Dante Nott the Second, William Dante Nott the Third, Remington Jagger Nott Family History: The Nott line travels as far back as William The Conqueror, the Duke of Normandy, a descendent of Viking raiders, who had won the Battle of Hastings and crowned himself king in the 10th century. William was the son of Robert the Magnificent of Normandy, and his mistress, Herleva Nott. The line continued, the maternal Nott lineage surfacing with every other child, and, as the English kings continued to marry French noblewoman for their lands, the Nott family integrated their own house often, and stood as a superpower in the background. In 1282, King Edward I of England had conquered Welsh lands, and, to ensure loyalty and to praise the Notts for keen insight King Edward I had granted Colbourne William Nott the Wise as the first Duke of Wales. Since then, the Nott family has extended its branches far, mingling with pureblood families. Often taking high position seats within the ministry, though, most predominantly within the Wizengamot, the Nott family holds close ties to almost any department of the ministry. One of the earliest members of the Circle, the Nott house had long since covered up their dirty little secrets and hidden discrepencies to remain loyal to the Circle. Though, the head of house, William II, has long since held his brother, Remington, at arms length due to his less-than-noble means and has advised for all others to do the same. Though Remington is still a member by blood, he will often be neglected to be informed of certain situations or meetings, for the good of the Circle.

Family Name: BainMembers: Ariston Archaeleus Bain, Amora Andromeda Bain, Abigail Alwynn Bain-Sutton, Ashton Aurelius Bain Family History: The Bains are comprised of a long line of pureblood Slytherins dating back hundreds of years. They joined the circle at the first chance, as a means of heightening their respect and making their faces known. Abigail was the first (and only) to marry a non-Slytherin (Logan Sutton), and though false, it was rumored that he was not of pureblood. Before getting married, and in attempt to continue the family name, Abbey had a son--Ashton (with Aliyus Craven, a pureblood Slytherin from a well-known family), who has been raised by his father and grandparents at the Bain family mansion. Abbey's failure to marry into another well-known family is a disrespect to the Bains, though not necessarily the circle. Family Name: CravenMember: Aliyus Arrenius Craven Family History:The Cravens are not as well known as some, but have been around long enough to have joined the circle at its start. They live near the Bains, whom they have a close connection with. Aliyus was thought to marry Abigail Bain, who he had a son with, but was thoroughly embarrassed when she married a man of lower status. He now lives with the Bain family raising his son Ashton. Family Name: GarrenMember: Hunter Garren Family History:The Garrens are perhaps one of the newest members, having earned respect only in the past few generations. Hunter's father, Luther, was seen as the most powerful yet, though after his son was born, all of his siblings mysteriously passed away, one but one, raising some suspicion among the circle. Luther died about ten years back, and Hunter disappeared from the scene for a while. Recently, however, Hunter has begun to rebuild the respect for his family name, though he is now the only Garren left.

Family Name:BarringtonMember(s): Julius, Amanda, Cassius, Gweniera Family History: A long line of purebloods having roots in Coventry, the Barringtons have been a member of the Circle for as long as any in their family can remember, often choosing only to marry other members of the Circle. Most members of this clan have been in Slytherin, some of them being among the first to roam the halls of Hogwarts. The occasional Ravenclaw has been known to enter their ranks. Some notable Barringtons have been of high rank in the Ministry while more recently, those such as Amanda have gained recognition for feats in the arts. During the Second Wizarding War, a few members had joined with the Death Eaters, yet those members died as a result of their choice. Cassius, the current heir to the Barringtons currently owns a shop in Diagon Alley, but he seeks to continue his family's heritage by eventually choosing to do something more, whilst his wife, the last member of the Haudes (another family from the Circle) plans on becoming a professor once she has had her children.

Family Name: EdgeworthMember(s): Wesley Jackson Edgeworth and Dahlia Vivian Edgeworth (nee Wynters) Family History: Both the Edgeworth and Wynters families go back centuries, and their membership in the Circle goes back far enough that neither family can name the first member to join. In both families, traditionally only the male members have joined the Circle, until Dahlia, who entered her marriage to Wesley as a partnership, convinced him to let her officially join as well.
