It was evening time when the shadows of surrounding trees, seemed to dart along the area, moving closer to the large structure just at the forest's end. Ooh, now this looks promising. Ren practically purred to himself, as he halted his movement, and looked upon the castle that was in view. The male was a notoriously good thief, no one had caught him yet, and he'd struck many homes and businesses. But, he'd never once had a target like this. His power over shadows certainly did benefit him, as it enabled him to enter anywhere, silently and without any notice. That was how he had robbed so many, without anybody ever even catching a glimpse of him. Besides stealing, Ren sometimes even went so far as to use places for sleeping, when he needed it. He would do this whenever he found a place where the owners were gone for long periods of time. It was far less cheaper than getting his own place. Besides the fact if he settled anywhere for too long, Ren thought it might make him a bit suspicious to others. Meaning they might come to realize he was the one stealing from them, especially if they noticed little things, like him having no job, or anything of that sort...and yet, he'd have enough to support himself, so wouldn't it make one curious to know how that were possible without his having to work? Maybe Ren was just paranoid like that, but he figured it made sense. Drifting back into the darkness, he slid along the shadows of the trees, making his way closer to the castle. This he figured would be one of his best targets, there had to be plenty of rare and valuable things in a place like that. Making it into the castle, Ren moved along the walls, keeping hidden within the shadows, in case there was anyone around...any inhabitants of the castle. Ren noted quite a few precious looking items in the rooms he traveled through, but he continued on, scoping the place out. One room he came across, was very royal looking, ornate patterns on the curtains on the windows, the old fashioned furnishings. Shifting into a tangible form, coming out of the shadows, Ren strolled through the room. "Whoever lives here, certainly has rich tastes."

User ImageThe castle in which the thief had irrupted in was quite dark all in all. The place sure was valuable and had much rare objects a bit everywhere that were out of price, but it remained quite a dusty fortress, except for some specific rooms, such as the one Ren had just stepped into. Visibly, someone was still living here, but judging with the thickness of the dust in some long forgotten rooms, there probably weren’t many owners, as they just couldn’t keep up with the cleansing of the place and had just seemed to abandon it after some time, only concentrating on the most used rooms.

In the highest levels of the castle, in the most large and luxurious of all the bedrooms that resided in the fortress, a prince of the darkness awoke, slowly sitting up in his bed once he had opened his red eyes. The vampire looked over the room and then passed the fingers of one of his hands in his hair, wondering if he had slept long enough to be kept from seeing the bloody sun if he was to open the curtains. The comfy large four-poster bed seemed like being a better option, more than confronting another painfully long night by endlessly reading books or staring at the moon, but even so, Zaphkiel lifted up a hand and snapped his fingers, making all the candles in the room lit up instantly. Fire was one of his abilities, to a certain extend. The vampire’s eyes squinted, getting used to the light of the flames, and once that was done, he got out of bed, grabbing his dark dressing gown which he put on, covering his bare, livid flesh, leaving it open in the front as he didn’t care much for the cold. A shower could definitely be an option. Zaphkiel headed to the doors of his room, getting a hold of the doorknobs, and as he was about to open them, something came nagging him deep inside. The vampire frowned, wondering what all of this was about. In the past, there already had been people getting lost or simply had wandered away too far and had ended here, to this isolated place, and had dared to invite themselves in. All of those had found nothing else but death, at some point, once they had entered the fortress without permission. Of course, Zaphkiel always used them before, would it be for his endless thirst, for sex, or for cleaning the place, by controlling them mentally like if they were nothing more than valueless puppets. Zaphkiel didn’t give a damn about mere human beings. Mortals were nothing more than despicable insects to him. The vampire concentrated himself and in no time he realized that there was indeed someone unexpected inside. He closed his robe, tying it up and got out of the bedroom.

Usually, Zaphkiel would have gone chasing down the newcomer, but surprisingly enough, he wasn’t much in the mood at this very moment. For now, he simply kept himself silent and headed to the bathroom, loosing no time into getting himself in the shower. Afterwards he would go back to his room, dress up and then, if the person in question was still within these walls, he would go to his or her encounter. The rat has a chance to escape… The vampire smirked at the thought. Once Zaphkiel turned on the water in the shower, he tried spotting the visitor once again and noticed that the feel he had from it didn’t exactly match a mere human being… Plus, visibly, it was a male. Now, now… What have we got here… In no time, Zaphkiel was out of the shower, passing a dry towel on his whole perfectly made body and then he headed back to his room, taking out a pair of pants and a simple shirt that he slipped on, almost in a hurry. He was finally ready for a possible encounter with, what he wished, was his new entertainment.

In the room Ren had appeared in, he wandered about it, picking up various odds and ends that were in the room. They all looked very rare, many antiques he was sure, if not all of them were. He was having the hardest time, deciding what he should take with him. Though, of course he knew he could always just come back here for more. Possibly, he would ransack the other vacant rooms, there were a few he'd passed through the walls of, that seemed to never be much in use anymore. Such a waste, all these wonderful things, and they're shut up in here, collecting dust. He smirked, as he was examining a fairly expensive looking painting, hanging on the nearby wall. Ooh, this would sell for quite a nice sum of money. Obviously, Ren was often cautious with his dealings of items he pilfered. So, often times, he would sell things off, straight through a black market connection of his. The guy was a cheat and a con artist with most folk, but he knew never to try such stupid things with Ren. Pausing his actions, Ren stood there, looking about for a moment, as he was holding an antique looking tea kettle. He had an odd sense pass a moment ago, and still felt it now. Whatever/whoever, still inhabited this castle, was moving around right now. It was interesting, the presence he felt. Shaking his head, as if to brush off the presence there, Ren went back to his searching of the room. He didn't particularly care if someone caught him, he could always just mess with their memory anyway...make them forget they even saw him. So, he paid no mind, and continued on, trying to find what he believed to be the most expensive item in that room, so he could leave for now. He didn't think the approaching presence was of any alarm to him, nor did he realize who the person was at that point and time. Even if he did realize who it was, and that the man was a vampire, Ren still wouldn't have hurried out of there. His life could be in danger, but ren figured he'd had more tricks then others, so he could escape quite easily.

Zaphkiel combed his still wet hair a bit with his fingers, and down he headed, to the room in which he had sensed that the man was wandering in. I wonder what brought him here… The vampire didn’t hurry himself to go down the stairs and end up in the hallway that would lead him to the room Ren was in. Zaphkiel had a neutral facial expression and had put his hands in his pockets, as he often did without necessarily realizing it, and once he was before the room Ren was in, he came forward, then leaned on his shoulder against the doorframe, staring at Ren, looking him over. A young man…and a robber, too, it seems… The idea of being robbed did nag Zaphkiel, but it wasn’t like he’d let the man escape, now or ever…at least, that was what he thought… Finally some entertainment… The vampire smirked, then said: ā€œHow about you leave everything where it is…?ā€ Zaphkiel drove his red hues around the room, spotting every objects that Ren had touched and or misplaced once he had put them back.

Ren had moved on from the items he saw around him, to a closet that was in the room. Opening it, it was fairly large closet, as he could walk right into it. There were trunks of some fancy old clothing in the room. He opened a few of them, digging out a few very ornate, almost victorian, seeming clothes. wow, there are some really old things here. Ren had taken out one of the old coats, and a top hat, and put them on himself for the fun of it. Now, he was just goofing around a little. Leaving the closet, the two articles of clothing still on him, he opened up a nearby drawer and rifled through that. That presence from before had gotten much closer, and when he heard someone speaking, he swivled around to look at the man standing in the doorway. Smirking back at the male, "Oh, now why would I do that?" He was known for being a smart a**, and not even at the best of times, like now.

The vampire had got one of his hands out of his pocket and once more, with a snap of his fingers, every candle in the room lit up. Realizing that Ren was wearing clothes that most likely had been taken out of the room’s closet, Zaphkiel frowned. What a little brat… He didn’t miss the smirk on Ren’s lips, which partly irritated him… To reply to what had been a surprising question, coming from an intruder who had just been busted, the vampire said: ā€œPerhaps it would be better for your own sake.ā€ Now, Zaphkiel had somewhat of a threatening glare sparkling in his eyes. How can he be so carefree… The thought that the young man before him was the slightest powerful didn’t even get through the vampire’s mind yet. Zaphkiel came forward, planning on taking the clothing back. ā€œTake that off… It doesn’t quite suit a thief.ā€ Not that he cared much for it, but it just nagged the vampire to see the man making himself so comfortable.

Rayne had his eyes on Zaph, as he watched the man snap his fingers, causing the candles in the room to light up. Neat trick, he thought, now getting a better view of the man. The other male seemed to be about the same height as Ren, if not the slightest bit taller. He had a fairly well built body, not overly muscled, which was good. His eyes got Ren's attention the most though, those red colored eyes. That, and the obvious glare that was in his eyes. Ooh, looks like I got him mad...oh well~ Hearing the somewhat threatening tone to his voice, when he said it'd be best for his own sake. "Oh would it?" The smirk hadn't left his lips this whole time. Now he had actually turned his back to him and picked up one of the items he'd been looking at before. "Now, you have a lot of nice things here. There's so much around that I doubt you'd even realize any of these things was gone, if I took anything." He glanced back at him when he told him to take the clothing off that he'd taken from the closet. Turning now, he reached up to the top hat, and sorta wiggled it at him. "Really? I kind of like them though." Now he really was just taunting him.

Zaphkiel had an irritated facial expression, seeing how the male was reacting towards him. Just who does he think he is to keep such an irritating smirk on those lips of his before me… ā€œNot that you are safe in any shape or form, whatever you’d doā€¦ā€ As the vampire draw nearer to Ren, with a slight hesitation now as he was uncertain of what he would do about this little brat, the smell of the young man came to him and it wasn’t unpleasant…at all, in fact. Zaphkiel stopped approaching and looked the man over once more, even if he had dared to turn his back on the vampire, now more distinguishing every detail with the fair light of the little flames. He could be good looking, he thought, if he’d only set aside his bloody arrogance… Listening to the man, Zaphkiel replied: ā€œDon’t underestimate my sense of observation… Anyway, you ain’t gonna leave this place anytime soon, if ever…so no need to be planning on what would be the most valuable to leave withā€¦ā€ Finally the man turned back to face the vampire, not sparing one bit Zaphkiel of his smirk… ā€œThen I could just light it up on you… Maybe being a living torch would rip that bloody smirk off your face.ā€ Zaphkiel could seem serious about it, and indeed he had been about to put at least the top hat on fire, as it considerably got under his skin the fact that Ren was kinda wiggling it at him, but if he was to set the man completely on fire, the vampire’s curiosity wouldn’t at all be satisfied, as he knew the man wasn’t a mere mortal; not to mention the waste of fresh blood such an act would spoil… Zaphkiel paused, frankly asking, with a tad of an interrogation air up his face: ā€œJust what are you anyway… You don’t have the scent of a mere, normal humanā€¦ā€ Not that he wanted to seem too interested, but curiosity was one of the vampire’s traits of character and he could hardly do without it.

Ren knew he was irritating the man the more he continued to speak so casually, and the smirk that never left his lips. It wasn't like he cared though, that was just how he always was. It was fun for him, and it never really wound up in him getting himself injured or anything. The again, he did have his little tricks for escaping, so that would attest to why he always managed to remain unscathed. "I won't be leaving? Really, now what makes you so sure of that?" Ren had an odd little glint in his eyes, something that would make anyone unsure of the certainty of what they'd just said to him. It was a sly, sneaky sort of look. At the other's threat of turning him into a human torch, Ren went so far as to laugh, as if he found the idea of his life being in danger, a joke. "Frankly, I'd like to see you try. You'll see it's not so easy to get rid of me." Pausing before he continued speaking, "Besides, I doubt you'd do it. No, you'd rather do something more then just kill me. I can just see it in your eyes. I may irritate you, but this is the most entertainment you've gotten in awhile, isn't it?" The man even answered his question, when he next asked what Ren was. "Ha, I was right, seems I've piqued your interest." Tilting his head to the side, that smirk, stretching into a sly grin now. "Why don't I give you a demonstration then." It was more because he wasn't entirely sure how to answer what he was. Though, it was easier to show him what he could do, as an answer to his question. The room began to get colder now, the shadows from the flickering candles and those along the walls, now writhing about and moving, seeming to draw towards Ren. Ren drew the shadows to him, pulling them together and making them grow and expand, swallowing up the room in darkness. A whooshing sound, like a gust of wind would pass by Zaphkiel, dropping the coat and top hat into his arms. A chuckle resounded through the room, "tag, you're it." Ren said it as an invite for Zaph to now follow him and see where in the castle Ren had now gone to. The shadows disappeared from the room, showing the male that Ren was no longer there. If Zaphkiel followed Ren's presence, he would now find him in the kitchen area of the castle. Ren now lounged in a chair he'd found sitting there, biting into an apple that he'd managed to find there. He was hungry, which was why he'd disappeared into the kitchen, rather then anywhere else.

Ren’s answer, and his odd glint in his eyes, made Zaphkiel lift an eyebrow slightly. Tsk… What’s that look about… Brat… Could this man before him really be so special that he could dare being arrogant and such with a vampire such as him? Still, Zaphkiel doubted the kid could be that powerful, probably just a loud mouth… As if Ren wasn’t yet irritating enough, Zaphkiel really had to keep himself from just tearing his head off when the other male laughed to his face. The vampire’s hands soon formed fists, and then he said, with a tad of anger in his voice: ā€œDo you only know what you are up against to…?ā€ But of course, Ren didn’t stop there; he continued on, pointing out that obviously Zaphkiel was entertained by the male’s presence in his castle. The vampire’s fists clenched even more, as Zaphkiel was boiling more and more from the inside. ā€œYou lil’ bratā€¦ā€ The vampire’s eyes were literally cursing the man when his bloody smirk stretched into a sly grin. That’s it… I’m done listening to that big mouth of his… Just as Zaphkiel couldn’t stand Ren anymore, the guy extended his life duration when said he preferred showing what he could actually do instead of just talking it through… At first, the vampire didn’t feel the chill that got more and more present in the room, but one thing he did notice was how the shadows started acting strange in the whole room…as if the guy was totally controlling them, drawing them together… At the scene, the vampire had more of a curious look than a mad one now... Soon enough, the entire room was swallowed up in the darkness. What the… Zaphkiel couldn’t even manage to adapt his eyes that he felt something like a gust of wind, accompanied with a whooshing sound, as something dropped into his arms. The coat…? Hearing the male say ā€˜ā€™Tag, you’re it’’ made Zaphkiel wanna clench his teeth together, but instead he grinned. Indeed, all of this was quite entertaining… Heh… That kid has got some guts… As the shadows left the room, the vampire chuckled. ā€œWell I’ll most certainly find youā€¦ā€; he said, mostly to himself. Following his instincts, Zaphkiel got out of the room after he’d left the coat and the hat on some chair near and off he was, heading to the kitchen. Once the vampire entered the kitchen, he automatically drove his red hues onto the men, spotting Ren who was eating, seated on a chair at his ease. ā€œI was getting to think you only were a brat with a loud mouth… Pretty neat trick you’ve got thereā€¦ā€ Zaphkiel still had a grin up to his lips, his teeth slightly showing, giving him somewhat of a devilish look. Finally, he’s gonna be harder to seize then I expected… This could be fun… I wonder for how long he will be willing to endanger his life by staying close to me… The vampire chuckled. I doubt he’ll get out of the castle, though, as my seal upon it is quite inescapable… Or he almost prayed for it to be, against Ren, in fact…

Ren was finishing the apple, while avidly waiting for Zaphkiel to seek him out. He found it odd there wasn't much food in this place. Though, the feeling he got off of the other male wasn't really human at all. Plus those red eyes, ....vampire maybe. That would explain the lack of normal food. Bringing his attention to Zaphkiel when he'd found him there, Ren chuckled at his comment. "Hmm, a loud mouth, not so much." That would mean he'd have to be speaking loudly, which he wasn't doing. "A smart mouth, definitly." He was smirking back at the devilish look he got from Zaph. At least it's better then him scowling at me. Ren liked his face either way, regardless of the look. At the mention of his 'trick,' "glad you think so. It certainly helps me out of some tricky situations." Snickering a little, "You know how hard it is to trap a shadow?" That had been hinted at Zaphkiel a little, to tell him there probably wouldn't be any way of keeping him stuck here. Though, he might just stick around this place on his own will, to continue bugging his new interest, or he'd just have to come back here once in awhile and pop in on the other male. That thought aside, Ren was just as curious to know what the other male was as well. "So, now you know what I am...or at least what I can do. But, what about you...I noticed the lack of normal food around here, so I think that might narrow it down a bit. But, I want to hear it from you?" Something else Ren realized at that moment he'd asked that question, was neither of them knew each other's names yet.

The vampire closed his eyes a moment, mostly of annoyance, just as he was cursing himself for not using the right term before such a pain. Oh common… Zaphkiel reopened his eyes, darting them into Ren’s, not quite knowing which facial expression he should use; a pissed one or a resigned one…so he had somewhat of a mix of both now, when he said, with a slight irritation in his voice: ā€œSmart mouth indeed… You knew what I meant anywayā€¦ā€ Then, the vampire came forward, looking at the apple Ren was eating up so fast. ā€œHungry?ā€ Ren was lucky to find food in this place, as usually there was just none; ever. But, two moons before, Zaphkiel had token those few apples in an apple tree nearby as he was out looking at the moon, just airing around. He had been under one of those trees and one of its fruits just happened to fell onto the vampire’s head. Of course, at first it had irritated him, as he rubbed his head, mostly for the gesture, but after looking down to his feet and seeing the fruit that had disturbed him among all of the others that had fell, he looked up and spotted some really pretty, reddish apples. Frankly, they looked delicious with their flawless red skin, but even though the vampire wouldn’t dare to take a bite, as normal food just didn’t suit his dead system. Nevertheless, he picked some up; half a dozen of the prettiest apples he found, and had just brought them back with him, leaving them in a bowl on the kitchen table. He’d sat down, just looking at them, an arm on the side of the table with his chin laying in his open palm. Really, he had nothing better to do than to stare at those passionate red fruits… As the time went by, Zaphkiel had ended up getting pissed at their appeal and had suddenly stood and walked away. Soon enough though; They’ll rot in no time…They won’t be perfect for eternity…; had he thought to himself with a ridiculous smirk crawling on his lips as he just left the kitchen, heading to a room that he used to read as it had a fireplace and a much comfortable couch on which he laid on, crossing his legs and going through countless war novels and such. Now, the apples were being eaten by Ren; they probably all would. The young man was tearing through their perfect skin with his teeth and finally the vampire could get over his obsession. Sure, it was a bit odd to be obsessed with apples, but really…being alone for decades, thirsty all the time, rarely having unexpected visitors…yeah, it was enough to get a bit crazy. Anyway, now the vampire brought his red hues back into Ren’s eyes and said, to his saying that his many tricks were useful to him and that it obviously wasn’t much possible to trap a shadow: ā€œI won’t even doubt itā€¦ā€ I’ll concentrate even more on the seal…perhaps it would be enough to at least keep that one inside. I couldn’t bear to lose such an entertainment… Zaphkiel did concentrate more, just as he listened to Ren as he asked what the owner of this place was in real, now that he knew that the young one was much special. Lack of normal food… It made the vampire chuckle and then he answered: ā€œWell… Am I the first living dead you come across of?ā€ He chuckled some more. ā€œA vampire, yes… One that goes by the name of Zaphkiel.ā€ Now, he expected the other male to tell him his own name… A smirk had taken place on the vampire’s lips now. I'll definitely try to tame him to be mine; my possession… His smirk changed into a slight devilish grin now.

"Zaphkiel," he repeated, as if marveling over the other male's name now. Well, he got his answer of what he was, and it was right when he'd assumed a vampire before. To the question of if he was the first living dead he'd come across, Ren shook his head. "Technically yes, but at the same time no. I have encountered others before, though not to the extent of our encounter. I could tell what they were, but I had just continued on whatever I was doing, so I never really stopped to have a little chat, much like what we're doing now." The way Ren spoke like that, came off as sounding a little bit sarcastic, joking possibly. If only Ren had cat features, like that of the furry ears and tail. You could just imagine a cheshire like grin on his face, and that feline tail, swaying back and forth almost like a taunt. Finishing the first apple, he was hungry and it was highly likely he would finish the rest of them up. Though, they almost looked too good to eat, with that perfect red coloring. Making the apple core, shadow away to wherever there was a waste basket, that way he didn't actually have to stand. Bringing his attention back, Ren smirked, introducing himself now too. "Well, Zaphkiel, I'm Ren, master thief...obviously." To the last bit, he stuck his tongue out, jokingly. He was curious to see now what the vampire male would do now.
