Well, dear Fluffernuts, it's 4:30 in the morning on this "beautiful" Kansas wednesday. You might be asking yourself, Shifty, why you dumb? Why you be up so early, yo? Well I'll tell you Mr. and Mrs. Hip-hop talking be-bopper. I'm going on a little thing called a Spur Ride in about an hour. For those who don't know, Shifty is in a cavalry squadron in Uncle Sam's army. When it comes to the cav, there are two types of spurs you can earn. Gold ones, which are the combat spurs, earned by serving with the cav in a time and place of war, and the silver spurs, which are earned through a little thing called a spur ride. I've already got my golden spurs and they mean jack diddly to me. These silver ones are going to cost me about 14 hours of sweat, frustration and a sore throat, but it'll be worth it. So far, all I know about the course is I have a written exam, an obstacle course, a rappel tower, a rope bridge. a weapons assembly/disassembly lane and my own bread and butter, a combat medical lane. It's sure to be one stressful but ultimately fun day and I can't wait to put those silver spurs on.
So, how you Fluffamatronic beings doing today?

Not doing anything as exciting as you are. Today is a sunny California day and my day consists of staring, longingly, out the window at the beautiful day while I try to put in a solid 10 hours of drawing. I wish you well on you silver spurs. It all sounds rather awesome.

My day was going rather well. The person that annoys me that I sit right next to was out again, therefore giving me relief. Only to my dismay another person that annoys me is taking the empty spot on my other side.
Now one might ask why such a loving, kind person like me would find these people annoying?
The one that has been absent lately goes on continuous loops of his family, usually the tragedies that happen. Not only that but he stalks me and any time he can sit at the table I sit down to eat lunch at and talk to people I don't normally get to he sits there. Any conversation that is going on he usually goes off how it reminds him of someone in his past or a family member, etc. He doesn't stop there, no he goes on and on making you wonder when he'll stop if ever. He's a lush who likes to think he's the boss and sometimes forgets to take a shower or really needs stronger deodorant. I've gone home nauseated from his smell. I swear if I have to again I'm taking the matter straight to him and if he wants to make something of it, BRING IT ON.
*cough*
The next person who is moving. She initially sat there but would constantly press the wrong button over and over and would say out loud "I'm doing something wrong." I got tired of repeating myself. She moved because she didn't like the noise of the music that the annoying guy next to me plays and the girl down my row and the woman beyond her play. Now I'm used to multiples of music going on and if I get sick of it I have a pair of headphones that I can put on.
So now that she's so cold that she got sick last week, though she was off for the last week of work so I don't know how she could blame being cold at work for that, she's moving because she's too cold where she's at. This is her third time moving and this move is permanent.. So now I have miss 1 million questions that are often OF THE SAME THING YOU SHOULD KNOW BY NOW sitting next to me. The moment I see her, my phones are going in.
This is not the only aspect of this person that annoys me. I make a simple, short comment. She takes that comment and goes on and on and on. This annoys the crap out of me because the woman won't shut up. I am sooo willing to be rude and plug my headphones in and start singing badly when she won't stop.
Other than that...my day went well.

@DM- Well, sorry to hear you have to put up with all of that, cyar'ika. I think the headphones thing is a good idea. 3nodding @Ladykrome- Oh, nice. Drawing marathons are always fun. And to everyone- Well, I started this Spur Ride at 0530 in the morning. The first thing we did was a written test on general army knowledge, our squadron's history and so on. Then we went to our first station which was, maybe a mile away from where we started. This station consisted of us climbing a rope up to a platform of free floating beams, up a latter with wide spacing between each rung and down a cargo net. The next station we went to was simply a very tall ladder with nearly my body length of space in between each rung. After that, we crawled through the sand pit under the razor wire where we, on average, swallowed a quarter pound of sand. Then we moved to this strange obstacle where you go up at an angle, climbing on top of one rung, under the next and repeating the process all the way up and then down. After that we had to drag a bag of sand that was roughly 200 lbs approximately 300 yards and then sprint back to the start. Thank God that was the first event or I would have been done from the get go. The next event saw us walking nearly three miles to a lake where we would lay on top of a rope and try to get across to the other side of the lake. It would have been pretty easy, were it not for the fact that the rope curved upward. I managed to get across without falling in, which is, supposedly a rare thing today. After that we hiked a mile back in the direction we came to a group of water jugs that were roughly 6 gallons full up of water. There were also 2 litters that our 4 man team place the jugs on and carried about a football field up and then back down a hill. After that we hiked for another four miles to where we did boring decontamination stuff for half an hour. Then we marched off for another mile to where we did the weapons lane. One of the Spur Holders, aka people who already have their silver spurs and so help run the lane, was a good friend of mine from our tour in Iraq, so he decided I would hold onto a log the entire time I was their and call it my girlfriend. We were then blind folded and had to assemble a random weapon. Thankfully, I got the M4 carbine, the weapon system I'm qualified expert on, so I managed to get it put back together in good time. After that we limped over to our last lane which was my bread and butter, the medical lane. We blazed through that and finally hobbled on back to our unit headquarters 4 miles away. All told we walked approximately 16 miles, counting traveling to each lane, waling back to Squadron and all the running we did during each event. As I'm typing this, a quarter sized flap of skin came off of my heel when my sock did and now I'm dreading that shower I'm going to take. But, all in all, it was a very fun day and now I'm a part of the Order of the Spur.

Wow! Way too intense XD I'd be dead at the start... Grats on making it into the order of the spurs :3
@DM: Gotta love annoyances... Headphones indeed does sound like a good idea, along with a bottle of febreeze.
As for me, just going day by day trying to figure out what needs to be done regarding what my mom left behind.

Oh people... That's why I tend to avoid everyone I see. There was one girl in one of my classes that whined and complained about EVERYTHING. "I don't get it. Can you explain?" or "Look at me! I'm doing it!" "Oh no I did it wrong!" Just very loud and annoying comments usually followed by a "that's so stupid.." remark towards the teacher. Thank god I don't have to see her anymore.
And reading about that intense physical workout-deally makes me nauseous. I'm so out of shape..

@Kuro- Thanks. :3 And good luck with that. I know that can't be too easy.
@Debi- I'm still waiting for my pony. >~<
@Mongoose- You're telling me. I wasn't as prepared for it as I should've been. But apparently I'm a masochist because I'd do it again if I had the chance.

The headphones help. Now I just get to wait for the day when the guy returns. There will be conflicts.
There was one today but I missed it. One girl who plays her music got into with the sensitive lady sitting next to me. I call her sensitive because NO ONE ELSE has ever complained about the music. I mean I Freaking sit right there and you don't hear a peep from me. I may complain about it to co-workers but it's usually the guy's music and not the girls but I don't complain to the sup cuz it's just not worth my time.
Okay what I really don't get is that this woman has earplugs in and these huge headphone type things that she hardly ever takes off, not even for break, and she can still hear that music? Heck with my ears bare I can hear it but it's not what I'd consider loud.
So yeah. The woman has issues anyways as she considers any music that's not classical as something that shouldn't be played. She tried to argue that another department not too far from the one I work at doesn't get to play music. The supervisor just stated simply that we weren't that department and that the management has approved music to be played. Music = 10, Complaining Lady = Fail.
Anyways. Back on topic. The exercise Shifty went through would have killed me after the first minute.
Also, hang in there Kuro. It's going to be tiring because it's all emotional right now so you're going to be drained. *hugs* Just know us fluffles are here for you.
