As s nurse, I apologize for my fellow healthcare professionals. Covid has strained an already stressed profession, but it is no excuse. However, we are human too, I have had to go back to say sorry to people when I was short with them because of other things that were going on. I try my best to not have something or one previously affect the next person I see, I hope I am successful more than I fail. Right now I am taking time from most work because my life is so strained on a personal level, I feel it affecting my care and professionalism.
All that said in short, I am sorry you were treated badly and I hope it was just a bad day that the receptionist will be able to apologize for next time you see that person. If not, let the other staff know. Sadly Covid, and all that has happened since lost us some of the best in this field and worsened our ability to care the way we wanted when entering.

Thank you for your being a healthcare person on the front line with covid and many other factors. So many health care people were fired for not getting the shot. Good people so you all are short staffed. I do appreciate you.
I have had rude health care people too but the majority are very compassionate.
Thank you so much for the kind words. People like you are why I keep doing what I do. And yes, too many of the good health staffs were fired because of the shot mandate. Thankfully agencies took some of the good ones, but finding places that take exemptions are also hard. It's a mess. I am sorry for those left that are rude, or lazy, or both. They were there before all this, but at least we had more people then that could help, now,,,, its just a mess. ( very complicated and many levels of fail) I swear I never want pizza again, yes the pizza "bonus" is a very real thing. Us fighting for the rights of our patients will keep fighting and hold on to the good during the bad days. heart
The problem is not all health care workers really care like they once have.
I know someone who has been denied a mamagram cause they are not vaxed. Someone that was refused the covid pills because they were not vaxed. I have heard of a doctor even being rude to a person who was not vaxed. That is not caring or medicine. To get an exception cause you do not want something and being refused the right to use it and then to get fired or quit. That left some people in the health care field that just do not care. So that is my rant on this. I am not saying anyone should or should not get the shot that is up to them. But this entire mess has let good people go and kept some mean people. I am positive you are a caring and nice person and have met others. Keep up the good work the world needs good kind compasionate people
Sadly everything you said I have seen, even threatened with. I hesitate because I still get treated badly, but I am unable to vaccinate. And struggle to find places willing to allow a healthy nurse work because of it, thankfully I have a very understanding Dr who has been there to help me navigate this crisis time and a church willing to help me with an exemption, but with the federal mandate in place, a few places willing to take me. I have both been threatened by some drs and saw the articles of people being denied life saving procedures because of (and it doesn't matter to me what a person's personal reason or choice is on this, if they need help, I am there) not being vaccinated. Rant all you need to, I see it, I experience it and many days the only reason I think I am in this field is to try to help fight for others rights for healthcare. Sadly many good, and experienced nurses left because of the vaccine mandates (still in place for medical), and sadly it left too many of the uncaring, lazy and down right dangerous (imo) healthcare workers in place. Maybe if nothing else from this, is know a handful of us are out here, fighting for everyone's right to medicine, fair treatment. I am so sorry people are still being hurt by this, not just us in healthcare (I include everyone from the top down to whatever people think the lowest level is, I see all are important positions) but every person denied care, treated badly, and worse.
Sorry, didn't mean a rant, just my heart breaks for everyone affected from this mess. I wish I could see light in this darkness, but all I can do is be the best me for those I care for, go home and cry, and repeat. If you or anyone wants to also message me with rants, I will listen, nothing shocks me, something surprise me (I like the good surprises too). I'm proud to say I am not a normal nurse. I like to listen to the people I care for, advocate and fight for needs, its why I am in medicine, caring for people and so far I plan to take the advice some patients have said to, not let "them" change me. If you are a hugging type, virtual hugs, to you and Rose. gaia_sakura
