I feel for the third-world countries & if I'm able to spare a few dollars, I'll spare it. But I'm also kind of on the whole "Americans need help too" line. I use my time and resources to focus on American issues firsthand.
However, I do help when anything happens in China because I'm not just American.

The problem is, even with all the help that has been given to Haiti, is the age-old teach a man to fish strategy. Just giving them food isn't going to help anything. They'll have lunch the one day, and tomorrow everyone will be starving again. Same thing goes for Africa. As long as the leadership and education factors don't change, not much else will.
