The kids of tomorrow don't need today
For those of you who have seen the announcement that Gaia is donating money to the Haiti relief effort thing, quick question Did they do anything like this for 9/11?

Umm, no.
Seriously. Gaia needs to think about that a bit harder.

Yeeaaah.... Obama is donating a mil too, I think. 9/11? Katrina? No? Hm, interesting.
Seriously, this country is going down the tubes and the whole 'help the third world countries before yourself' sentiment isn't helping any. We can't let our country die so everyone else can get handouts. confused

No, they didn't donate. You know why? Because Gaia didn't exist in 2001. Seriously.

Gaia Online didn't exist, but Go Gaia did, which is what this site used to be called.
And no, Tai, they didn't do anything for Katrina, and they wont do anything anywhere when it comes to helping Americans so long as other people who might have bad opinions of us have it worse. Unfortunately, our age is one of handouts and money grubbers who don't work for what they get. confused

Exactly. There's men, women and children starving and dying in America every single day but the opinion of everyone else in every other country determines who we save. -_-
-Sigh- It upsets me.

According to what I've read, Go Gaia itself wasn't created until '03, and was changed to Gaiaonline in '04. But maybe I'm wrong...

@Tai- This is the reason I am a Republican and not a Democrat or Independent. lol
@Cows- I'm not saying you are wrong, but what you've read is, since I used to have a Go Gaia account and this was in Junior High because I remember having to pretend I was doing school work to get on. lol

I think they're doing more to donate to Haiti because despite the fact that U.S. is in debt, we are not a poor country. Haiti is a poor country and is over powered by a dictator. Those people lost everything, even though their everything was close to nothing. I'm aware that many lives and other things were lost during Katrina and 9/11, but those things happened in the U.S. It's easier for us to recover from a natural disaster/attack than all the third world countries. Just saying. Not saying I agree with it, but that's why I think they're doing it.

the problem is, the US thinks they're in charge. if there's a problem, the US always seems to get involved. and like tai said, the US is helping everyone but the US. also, there's been more than enugh money donated to haiti, it's just that the people in charge of it aren't getting anything done. tons of food has been delivered, yet people r still starvin and fighting over the 2 scraps that were actually passed out to the country.
