In youth, I often played with trees
And let myself float along the breeze
I'd pick the flowers and pull the grass
And watch as hours slowly passed
In adolescence, I took up pen
And wrote all that had troubled me then
I hardly ever wandered outside
Unless I noticed the rain - and sighed
Now in adulthood, I sit and wait
For happiness to replace my hate
I hardly know what it's like anymore to see
The proudly standing cedar tree
Instead of enjoying the moments few,
I let my life become more a limited view.
