I feel the rain pounding on my skin,
I see the lightning splitting like the branches of a tree,
I hear the thunder clashing with the earth,
I smell the dirt drowning In the flood,
But I don’t taste a thing.
Harder and harder it strikes my window,
The wind so strong it bends trees,
The strike range so close I feel the ground shake,
But I am not afraid.
I don’t run to my mother like a frightened child,
I don’t go stand in my yard like I have a death wish,
I sit on my windowsill and watch,
And listen,
And feel mother nature.
I stay there,
Unmoving and silent,
Unwilling to do anything else,
Until its over and the storm has passed,
