After what seemed an eternity of darkness...a single flash.
A dazzling moment in time where pain and suffering end...and true life begins.
Like a butterfly emerging from its chrysalis, you peer about nervously before spreading
your newly formed wings.
Though these wings force unfamiliar sensations upon you, you humbly accept them as a new part of your life.
Fully extended, you gain the irressistable urge to soar high above the ground.
Just as you attempt to take off, a sensation unknown to you, grips at your soul.
Against your will, struggle though you do, you are helpless against this awesome force.
They are naught but intermitent tugs at first.
One here. Another there.
Then, all at once, a giant lurch and you find yourself
falling.
Faster and faster you fall, as gravity takes its hold on you.
As you plummet dangerously close to your destination, you bear witness to sights you'd
never seen before.
Constantly, images flash about you; scarring your eyes with their vulgarity.
Just as you feel you've taken in all that you can; when one more image would
shatter your mind, suddenly, the images cease to be, and you begin to breathe.
Slowly, you open your eyes and find yourself contained.
Like an assassin, you pay great attention to detail; fully examining one object before
allowing your eyes the pleasure to move onto another.
Everything is unfamiliar to you.
The setting, the surroundings...everything emits an uncomfortable feeling.
As you glance nervously about, you receive no sense of warmth, no sense of forgiving.
Finally, your gaze falls upon a tiny band wrapped 'round your wrist. No. 76142.
Suddenly, a low buzzing turns your gaze upwards; a machine inches its way towards you.
A single flash...then, an eternity of darkness.
