My armor is of leather binding;
My wings of shredded paper.
Light from pen so very blinding;
As sweat turns to vapor.
Fluttering in the gentle breeze;
I'm ready for this battle.
With the greatest of ease;
I silence war's rattle.
Altercation is over;
Bodies are strewn.
Eying the crimson clover;
It will continue soon.
Nothing stops the fray;
This battle of the psyche.
I can feel the ink spray;
And the grass burns free.
It's over for today;
This war against myself.
Weapons back in the cache;
The book back on the shelf.
