Alas,
my love, I have longed for you
for years even I cannot even count to.
Alas, my love,
where have you been? Have you been hiding under my bed while I was asleep?
Have you been sleeping next to me
when I scream and cry...
Or do you taunt me as I whisper your
name? Alas, my love,
what have I done to deserve this?
Where were you when I cried
and where were you when I wanted to die? Where were you when I slept alone;
where were you when I took that dreadful blade
and cut your name into my skin so deep
it burned like a kindeling fire on my wrist?
Where are you?
Alas, my love,
I have been sitting in the same place for so long,
Alas, my love. Where have you been
since that dreadful day you walked out
and in again? Where were you when I took a
blade nervously, yet wittingly, to my
own neck and sliced through layers of dead skin?
Where were you when they rushed me to the hospital?
Alas, my love...
Where was I when you were murdered?
Where was I when I
took that blade to your neck? Where was I?
Alas, my love, what has happened to our
beauty? What has happened to the beautiful
romance
we shared at perhapes
a time when we couldn't count?
Why did I twiddle my thumbs when you
were pronounced dead? Why was I smiling?
Perhapes the reason, weather I agree with it, or
disagree, I smiled was because
I knew that pain and agony I shouldv'e felt.
Was I in denial?
Doubt thou,
where were you?
Alas, where were we
when we took eachothers life
and felt absolutely
nothing?

- Description: I was aiming, in the vocabulary used, for a victorian styled poem. This poem was recently accepted for publication, and I have recieved many comments on how well I wrote it and on my poetry in general. But I wanted to enter it into this arena. I hope you like it. constructive critisizim is greatfully accepted. And compliments too, please. Nothing too nasty, though. Any suggestions are also loved! :)
