Its not the same this year
But at least now theres no more fear
My grandmother has passed away now
And me and the family have nothing but frowns
We're trying hard to get in the Christmas Spirit
The Christmas Carols play
But we just don't wanna hear it
It was better when we could hear her sing it
The Tree is up
And the lights are glistening
More music is playing but I'm still not listening
Its too sad this year without her here
The smiles about the homemade chocolate pies now turne to tears
I had allready picked her present out
Velvet pajama's I had planned to get
I just was hoping the fever wouldn't make them too warm
She could really use them now, down in that deep cold ground
But I think she'll be ok
Cause a heart of gold never goes cold
And what am I thinking she's having a better Christmas then me
She's not in the ground, only her bones
Her spirit is in Heaven dancing the streets of gold
With my papaw singing in that warm sugar snow
