Winter Simplicity.
sand dollar raindrops stretch in the cold
out with the sane and in with the old
glass beads on branches steam as they fall
branches on mirrors, cracks in the wall
keystone arches with translucent teeth
bicycle stokes with an icicle wreath
fire on white has an unpleasant bite
she catches her fill in the dwindling light
brindle-boy plumage in well-measured hoots
sleepy and warm in the thick willow roots
tinder will echo on well-traveled paths
carried on leaves while the woodpecker laughs.
