This small, confined room
Grows colder as each instant passes by:
A memento of the years I've lost
In fear of rejection and ridicule.
She is not here at my side.
Those deep, green eyes are not mine to view.
I wish to change her life, and for her to change mine,
But ear constricts my voice again.
Hope struggles against doubt
And I'm left suspended above the abyss
Of turmoil and disdain
For those horrible times that I can never forget.
The years of idleness spent in the confines of this room
Have left my bones brittle and creaky
And turned my heart, once glowing with pride,
To an acrid, bitter powder.

Description:
A very, very quick poem of mine that I just wrote a short while ago. It's not my best work, but hopefully you'll like it. It's an open poem as I didn't want to sacrifice the entire meaning of the poem for a rhyme scheme.
This poem is mainly about feeling trapped by what you could call Cabin Fever. It's about a person who loses out on love and having a life due to a fear of rejection.
*Note: The 'ear' in the last line of the second stanza should be 'fear'. Accidental typo ^ ^;;* - Date: 07/17/2008
