Henry VIII was born in 1491. He was the second (and youngest) son of King Henry VII and Elizabeth of York.
His older brother would've become king if he hadn't died in 1502. 7 years later, in 1509, aged 18, Henry became King Henry VIII.
What Henry is most famous for is the fact that he had six wives. Heres the basics on who they were, what happened to them and their children:
1. Catherine Of Aragon (1509-1533) Divorced. Had a daughter, Mary I
2. Anne Boleyn (1533-1536) Executed. Had a daughter, Elizabeth I
3. Jane Seymour (1536-1537) Died form complications after childbirth. Had a son, Edward VI
4. Anne of Cleves (1540) Divorced. No children.
5. Catherine Howard (1540-1542) Executed. No children.
6. Catherine Parr (1543-1547) Survived due to Henrys death in 1547. No children.
The big probem in Henry's life was he desperately wanted a son to carry on the Tudor line. Obviously he got one, but he Ed was a weak child, so Henry probably wanted another son. Obviously, he didn't get another one.
As he grew older Henry grew fatter. He developed a number of painful diseases, and he may have even had Syphilllis, which is sexually transmitted, so his wives must've got it as well.
After his death he was buried at Westminster Abbey in London, next to his favourite wife, Jane Seymour (for obvious reasons).
