• I walked through the thick grass with Becky right behind me. Howling wolves stalked us; asking for attention. I really wanted to pet them, but better safe then sorry. We walked slowly to the White Blad Eagle cage which was by a very beautiful water fountain. As Becky got her favorite Bald Eagle out to show me, I listened to the water as it dripped down into the little pool.

"This is Franky," Becky said in a greeting voice.

I stared at the bird as it stared down at me. I never knew that eagles can have a violent stare, but I guess it could because its a landmark for the whole United States.

"What do you feed it?" I asked trying not to stare at the huge bird.

"We feed it fish, regually. Not at a time otherwise it will gian a lot of weight," Becky explained.

"Is it hard to feed Franky?"

"Usually," Beck puased, "but for some reason this morning he wasn't a handful."

I nodded as Becky placed the bird in his cage. "Why did you took him here?"

"Well," she sighed, "when we found him, he had a broken wing. So we took him in. He doesn't have a broken wing now, it healed. We're just making sure he could fly."

"Do you run some tests on him so he could fly?" I asked nervously.

"Yes we do," Becky took a brief pause so she could breathe another breath of fresh air. "But we're not really sure if he will fly. We're not even fifty percent sure that he will live! He has a cuncustion for the last two days in a row. He might die."

I nodded as we both walked to the campsite.

Later that night I kept thinking about the beautiful bird, Franky. Will he live the night? Will he die? And can I help him on my own? Things are hard enough as it is for that bird! He's in a cage, he didn't look very happy, and he has no idea what's going on with him! I needed to do something fast before he has to go to hell.

I got up slowly so I wouldn't wake up Becky and my mother as they slept. I had my Pajamas on but I don't care. I grabbed a flashlight and ran out the tent towards the documents for Franky. The documents were by Beck's bag. I took a quick peek at them and gasped. He will die tonight.

As I ran I heard loud scarpying noise coming from the direction I was going. I hoped that it wasn't Franky. I raced towards him, my heart was about to jump out of my chest but I kept running. As I ran something flew past me. Like a black shadow flying like a race car in the other direction I was going. I quickly stoped and turned around. My flashlight was shining into the dark sky. Up fourteen feet off the ground was Franky. Flying like the calm breeze.

I thought to myself: How did he get out. Then flashbacks came before me. I remember Becky closing the cage, but never locking it.
