Aaron was sitting the emergency room, as he had been for the last two weeks, standing by his friend, Chance Raegon.
"Chance, You awake? Chance?" Aaron said, waiting to see if he'd wake up. Aaron and Chance have been friends since, well, ever and Aaron didn't know what to do. Chance had the "Ability", they called it, to make energy out of his hands. Aaron figured it out when he used it on some bullies to protect him. Now, just two weeks ago, he saved him from being hit by a car. It was terrible because Aaron knew it made him weak and sickly. And he used enough energy to stop the car.
I never should have gone out there, Aaron thought. Why wasn't I paying attention? He looked over to see Chance opening his eyes slightly.
"Where's Jessi?" he said quietly. At that instant he called Jessi at ridiculous speeds, knowing she lived close to the hospital, and told her to get over there.
"Chance just...." The machine flat toned after he said that. Aaron was in utter shock. He sat there and waited. The doctors ran in as Jessi did, she looked at Aaron, tears in her eyes as she sat next to him. The doctor looked at the boy.
"Clear!" he said as he fibrillated him, bringing him back to life. Aaron looked up at him, sad as he knew he was gone. The machine beeped again, showing he was alive.
" I'm sorry, son, but he was gone for too long. He'll suffer major brain..." He said, looking back to see the boy standing on his two feet, pulling out his I.V. drip. The doctor was in shock, but Jessi had jumped up and hugged him.
All Chance said was:" Why didn't you tell me she was coming?"
