ASMUNDJAHI
Justice
Prologue: Description of the world
This book entitled Asmundjahi, after the main character, is set in a universe on a planet called Zegwaia pronounced zeg-way-ah. This world is very different from our world the climate is humid and hot year round, sentient beings are assigned jobs at birth, and the planet has no moon to illuminate the night sky. Unfortunately, since it has no moon it is pitch black at night all the time, because of this the beings have developed advanced night vision. The planet is in itself four times larger than earth. It is covered with one huge land mass with a ocean going separating the landmass into two continents. The ocean runs like a river making it so the continents are never touching.
The continents are named Torus and Semplus each with its own views and standards. For instance, Torus is a very chaotic content; it boast freedom of religion freedom of expression and freedom to do what you please when you please. As you can imagine some of these freedoms can cause a slew of criminals to develop there. Although on that continent the only way to earn money is by working, those who work often lose their money to robbery. Unfortunately for our hero, this is the continent he lives on.
The next continent Semplus is a lot more peaceful. The continent boast many freedoms but with the freedoms come many laws. Laws are based off of the moral standard: Do not lie. Do not steal. Do not murder. And respect the law officers. Although the do not lie rule, is often broken without any major consequences the other three are kept strictly. Capital punishment is the standard for this continent as most felons found guilty meet their death in one year. Murderers and drug abusers have based on their crime a week to a year to straighten out. If not straightened out they are executed. Executions are open to the public, but often none come to see them. This society for the most part safe and kept well.
At the moment the two continents are at war with each other. The war is fortunately consistent on a small scale. Small confrontations break out but for the most part it’s a cold war.
The inhabitants themselves are tall, and scruffy. The have blue skin which is moisturized naturally to keep them from burning from the hot sun. the lower class often stay in houses resembling huts resembling igloo’s made of concrete to protect them from the sun, and the higher class stay in houses similar to those in our universe.
Although the inhabitants have the same skin color, they all vary in physical features such as:
The dominant species of this planet the Likensokens also called the L.S. faction have one horn on there head often used in battle, and their blue skin has scales on the tops of their hands and feet they are believed to have come from a world full of water. This species dominants most of the world and inhabits over 80% of the upper class people on Zegwaia. (current “size” of race 100 billion)
The next “race” or species I am going to talk about is the Shizamasits (pronounced Shi-zama-sits). The Shizamasits (also called the S.M.) for the most part look like humans with unusually long legs and eyes without pupils. No one knows why they have no pupils, but this does not effect their sight. This “race” make up a good 5% of the current higher class. This “race” also is mostly concentrated on the Semplus continent, although some live on the Torus continent. (current “size” of race 10 billion)
The next “race” of people is the Krismatitites ,also called the K.M. faction. This peculiar race happens to be the race of the main character Asmundjahi. This “race” has the blue skin of all the other races but have different enhanced features. For the most part they are like humans (apart from the blue skin) ,but are unable to operate their muscular features without the use of an exoskeleton. The exoskeleton was implemented as a way to keep up the strength of the Krismatites since they were starting to go extinct. This “exoskeleton” helps them move their muscles and also gives them enormous strength and stamina. It also protects them from various diseases ,because it provides and produces white blood cells. After being put on a newborn, the exoskeleton then grows with the baby but first it is covered with a skin like covering to protect it and make the child look normal. This “skin” must be replaced every ten to twelve years to avoid it from being broken. That being said, this also doomed them to life as workers or soldiers. Some though, took up being professional criminals because of their super human strength and agility. (current size of race 500 million) *size is subject to change as it is steadily dropping*
Now that that is complete. I will jump straight into the narrative. This story is told in third person as described by a database computer. Telling the information to a person who lived one thousand years after Asmundjahi.
Chapter 1:Introduction.
“Computer search database Asmundjahi.” Yelled a voice in the distance. “Searching……..Search complete over one thousand common people with this name. One extraordinary revolutionist with this name. “Who who are you?” Yelled Jkadkim a notorious criminal on the torus province. “I am justice.” Said a short man right be fore he punched him in the face. “You criminals never learn do you.” The man said as he dragged him to the justice center. “Why why are you doing this? You know as well as I do that they will release me in less than a week!” exclaimed Jkadkim “Because people like you disgust me. Killing, stealing, and destroying for your own gain.” “What do you expect from us? We are from Torus. Said to be a savage land by those who live in Semplus.” Jkadkim explained. “Shut up!” Yelled the man as he slammed Jkadkim against a wall. “Fool tell me your name and I promise I will destroy your life!” yelled Jkadkim. “I told you already my name is Justice.” Said Justice as he threw him at the justice center. “Scum.” He thought as he walked back home. After getting home, Justice checked to make sure no one was there and changed from his costume into normal laborers clothes. A hour later his parents walked in the house. “Asmundjahi you here?” his parents called out. The sound echoed for a few minutes before an answer rung back. “Yes mother I am here ready to work in the fields.” “Good son. We need to be getting to the fields now our shift is about to start.” His father replied. After that Asmund went to work in the fields.
The fields were hard labor, taking weeks to plant crops and most crops died. Only about ten percent of the crops planted lives. Because of this, they planted large amounts of crops a standard crop field could be 300-500 miles of crops. Asmund’s job in the crop field was to plant and harvest. (His race was always given a special job because of their super strength.) Asmund was a hard worker he liked to do his work and so all the crops he planted flourished. In fact sometimes the fields that he worked on got eleven percent or twelve percent of their crops to live. After Asmund finished his shift in the fields. (12 hours)
He went home and went straight to his room. He did not go to bed like his parents thought though. He took out a mask tailor made by him of metal. first he put on a breast plate of armor with a big J on it. Then put on the mask. The mask laid flat on his face not showing any facial features it had a very small almost unnoticeable slit for his eyes to see through. After pulling that out he pulled out a pair of boots. The boots were also made of metal and came up to his knee then curved outward a bit to create a point sticking out. Then he put on a pair of gauntlets. The gauntlets were peculiar they looked like a knights gauntlet but they had a strange language carved in to the sides. The palms also glowed bright green. “I am Justice.” He whispered to himself as he leaped out the window.
He jumped from rooftop to rooftop looking for criminals. He patrolled the city for several hours then Finally he saw someone. A professional criminal group (professional dressed up in costume’s to show that they were professionals and to tell others not to mess with them) this group of people were called The Harbingers. They dressed In green shirts with red pants and a helmet with wings coming out of it that had what each of them was known for written in Japanese on their heads. Justice read them to himself “Death, so he is a killer. Arson, that’s code for he has a flamethrower imbedded in his exoskeleton. Steal, a professional lock picker. Destroy, an arms dealer. There is no way I can kill let alone capture these men by myself without my sword, but I will have to try. Justice jumped down and pointed the palm of his gauntlets at Arson and Destroy. The gauntlets shot a green beam out killing the men. Death quickly drew a sword he kept at his side and swiped it at Justice. Justice caught the sword mid-swipe with his hand. He pushed the glowing sword back and grabbed the mans other hand breaking it. He then kneed him in the gut causing him to spew blood out of his mouth. Death retaliated by trying to swipe him again with the sword. This time Justice parried the sword, and grabbed his hand and squeezed braking his fingers. Death dropped the sword and Justice quickly picked it up and stabbed him in the stomach with it causing him to bleed exponentially like a river. Justice stood there panting. “This is life on Torus.” He said to himself. Justice continued patrolling throughout the night returning home for just an hour of sleep before the next shift. After he got home, he changed back into his clothes and headed for bed. The next day his mom woke him up for work. He quickly got up just as before and headed straight to work. Interestingly enough, while he was working another worker started talking to him. “Hey have you heard about the resistance movement.” the boy whispered to Asmund. “What are you talking about?” Asmund whispered back while planting the seeds. “I’m talking about the movement against Torus by the inner circle. You know the group they talk about on the news all the time. They are extremist who have been trying to escape the Semplus they keep calling it paradise there.” The boy replied digging a hole for the seeds. “What? Escape to Semplus? Are they crazy? No one would dare leave the Torus empire we are at war with Semplus!” Asmund whispered in a snapping loud like fashion. “Whatever you say Asmund, but just in case you want to join the movement take this pin. Go to the old abandoned mining faculty In section twenty three of town if you want to join the movement. I hear that vigilante Justice is joining. With him by their side they are bound to get over to Semplus.” The rest of the day Asmund spent talking and working with the boy. He found out the boys name was Jiksad (jick-sad) and he was an extremist. Jiksad had lost both his parents in the war against Semplus and was bitter to it. He did not blame Semplus for his loss, but he blamed Torus for sending them out to war. Jiksad was full of fury against them and wanted to take up arms like the hero Justice. “I’m going to have an operation.” he said. “I’m going to have my exoskeleton altered to give me enormous strength more than any other krismatitite. Then I will become a hero just like Justice. I will fight against the tyranny which is no laws!” he exclaimed. “I don’t think Justice wants to fight against the country.” Asmund tried to explain “I think he just wants to punish the criminals in it.” “Well then,” he said “I will force him to take a side and fight. I will instigate a civil war. This war will bring justice upon our country.” Jiksad yelled. “Do you really think another war will solve anything?” Asmund asked. “Didn’t war already take your parents think of how many more kids will lose their parents in this war!” Asmund exclaimed. “Sacrifices must be made for peace to be instigated,” Jiksad said. “My parents were the first of these many sacrifices.” “Your crazy!” Asmund said. After that conversation, the whistle blew and Asmund went home. When he got home he skipped dinner and just sat on his bed. The words of Jiksad rung in his ears. “Sacrifices must be made for peace?” He thought. “Maybe he is right.” After that he left to go for justice. Donning his armor and leaving. The next hours of patrolling were quite un-eventful. He walked around the city looking for any sign of the gangs, but he found no one. Half way through his patrolling hours it started to rain. A feign heavy rain the type that only happens when sadness comes. He thought about everything that Jiksad had said over and over. “Maybe I should join them.” He thought to himself. “After all, this place is horrible,” “The food is scarce, and not supplied well. They force us to work in the fields all day just cause were strong.” “Why shouldn’t we want to escape.” As soon as Asmund thought that he saw a gang. It was not just any gang but the gang called the death riders. The death riders were a gang of hardcore killers. After killing their enemies they often took their heads as trophies.
