All my friends envy me. I'm the richest kid in the whole school, and the most popular. cool Probably because my father owns Fender, the guitar company. We get, like, a million dollars a day. School had just gotten out and since my house is so big, and our pool is Olimpic sized, we had the end of year party at my place. cheese_whine The whole school came! eek surprised I had never seen so many kids in my life! But that night, something horrible happened. And it was all because of my best friend.
Allie is my best friend. Well, was my best friend. We always hung out together. Allie's parents always smoked, and that night, Allie wanted to try to be cool. cool She smoked inside. She took out a match and lit the cigarette. Allie's grades weren't the best because she always forgot to do her homework. She set the match down, and left. No one was in the house, but a big fire started. burning_eyes Everyone screamed and ran. Some of them were crying. The firemen arrived for after what seemed like centuries. wahmbulance My father tried to go back inside and get the money case, but the firemen wouldn't let him. Once the fire was put out, we went back inside. Everyone else had left except for Allie, who was spending the night. When we got to the money safe, all that was left was bits of metal and paper. We were bankrupt. Allie still had the cigarette in her mouth. I glared at her. "You! You forgot to put out and throw away the match, didn't you!?" I yelled at her. scream Allie stuttered. "GO HOME! YOU'RE THE WORST FRIEND EVER! I NEVER WANT TO SEE YOU AGAIN!" I screamed at the top of my lungs. talk2hand stressed scream Allie began to cry. cry gonk Allie walked the whole way home.
The next day, mother told me to pack all my valuable stuff in as much as I could fit in a plastic bag. We loaded it in the car and took off. "Where are we going, mom?" I asked. "We're living in our car from now on." She grumbled. I was shocked. eek surprised One moment, we're the richest people in the state and another moment we're more poor than a hobo! I couldn't beleive it. Mom drove a little more ways on and stopped. "Welcome to our two day home." Mom growled at me. "Mom, this is the parking lot of The Home Depot." I told her. "I know." She said. She started to grin. "No way!" I told her.
The next thing I knew, I was asking the manager for a job there. "You're hired!" He said the moment I walked in there. I just opened the door, didn't say anything, and the moment he saw me he said "You're hired!" He didn't even get the time to knwo my name. "Here's a vest and a name tag. Put your name right there, ummmmmmmmmmm........" "Its Sam." I told him. He took out a Sharpie and wrote my name on the name tag. "Get to work, Sam." He told me. Right away I was at a checkout desk checking someone out.
After work, when I walked to our "house", thats what mom called the car, mom was waiting for me. She was waiting outside the passenger door. "How much money did you make?" She asked. "I don't get my paycheck until Friday." Today was Saturday. "Oh. Oh well. How much money do you get payed by the hour?" She asked. "I'll find out on Friday." I replied.
On Friday I got my paycheck. I got $235.00. I got payed $33.04 per day. That was pretty good. I had been working for about 3 months. Normally I'd be back in school, but we can't afford the tuition. One day, after work, mom came to the car jumping and singing and was happier than ever. "I FOUND A HOME WE CAN AFFORD!" She yelped. biggrin biggrin biggrin biggrin biggrin biggrin biggrin biggrin biggrin biggrin I ran up and gave her a big hug. The next day we moved in. I was so happy to be in a house again, even though it was an apartment. Mom still couldn't pay the tuition, but she used to be a teacher, so she homeschooled me. Even though we'd never get our old luxury life back, we were happy just to have this one.
