"Did you find her? I'd love to go and say 'hi' to her after such a long time."
"I'm sorry to tell you this but... she's dead."
"What?! How?! When?!"
"Well, I think that this should explain everything. I am truly sorry."
I wonder where she is? Doesn't she know that it's only 10 more minutes before school starts? Though I wouldn't put it past her to come late. Hmph, probably out late last night getting drunk or something, you never know. Well, at least she tries, right.
"What are you doing sitting there in the rain for?" Takes a swift of cigarette.
"Huh? Oh, I was waiting for you. Don't you know that we have 10 minutes before school starts and we're 20 minutes away?"
"I never told you to wait for me, now did I?"
"Yeah, I guess you didn't. But still don't you think you should try a little harder to get up and ready for school? I swear, you're getting worse everytime."
"Ah, but you still love me no matter how big of a mess I am. Come on let's go."
Every morning starts out this way. I sit outside her house waiting for her, she comes out, I say that we're going to be late, she dismisses me all together and then we go. I wonder if this is ever going to change in the near future?
"Everyones watching, again."
"Psshh. When aren't they? Come on, if you dislike it so much, you can go on ahead. I will be fine." Takes another swift of cigarette. "Plus, good chance I'll probably be there for half the day anyways. Go on."
"Ha, you think you can throw me away that easily. Come on, I am not gonna let you get out of here that easily."
It's always a struggle to get her past the school gates. Every morning is a struggle to get her to class. But I'm used to it. Been doing this for a while now. Just wish the others won't look at her like she's a total mess all the time.
Well, actually she is a total mess. She's been smoking ever since she's 12, drinking since 15, and never comes home until late at night and sometimes never. She sure enjoys herself now doesn't she. I just wishes she doesn't hurt herself so much all the time. I worry, I hope she knows that.
"David Trenton?"
"Here."
Yep, that's me. I'm David Trenton. Pretty average, normal guy. I'm on the varsity basketball team and take pictures on my free time. I wouldn't call myself a popular guy but I do have my moments. My life's pretty normal, I live with my mother and our dog, Jack. This will be my senior year in high school, and I'll just say it now, it's awesome. Life couldn't be better right now: grades are good, got accepted into an elite college, my friends are cool, but my love-life could not be worse.
How is it that the one person you want has to be that one person who nobody approves of? How is it possible for me to be with her when everybody else hates her? Ah, this sucks so bad.
Not that we don't hang-out, we do all the time. Just not at school or any other public setting. The one person who knows me the best and who I can relate to the most, is her. How in the world is this relationship ever going to be taken to the next step? Oh, and not to mention my mom hates her. That means it's over before it even starts.
"Hey, David, wanna catch a movie tonight?"
"Yeah, sure."
The movie wasn't too bad. They could've deepened the plot though. Man, if I spend the rest of my life just watching movies I can write and direct myself, I am going to be a bored man.
*phone vibrate*
"Hello?"
"Hey, can you come over tonight? I need your help with something."
"What you do? Got too drunk and can't find your bed?"
"Shut up and just get over here."
"Okay, okay, I'm coming."
Let me see, this would be the fourth time this week that she's called me for "help." I hope she doesn't make a habit out of this.
Okay, here we are.
*knock knock*
"Oh, hello there David."
"Hey, Henry. Where is she?"
"She's in her room. The usual."
"The usual, okay. Thanks."
The usual. Ha, it's funny how it comes down to that. I know what she's been doing and she knows that I will always come. She doesn't even have to call.
"Don't you know that it's unhealthy for you to be drinking this much. You know, your brain's not fully developed yet?"
"I called you here to have fun with me, not to lecture me about my actions. I have Henry for that. Now, come on grab a seat. What do you want to drink?"
"It's a school night. I have to get home sober this time or my mom will kill me."
"Fine, more for me then." Takes a drink. "So, how was the movie?"
"How'd you know I went to see a movie? You've been stalking me?"
"Shut up. I heard in class, Angela's been talking her little head off about how you and her were going to see a movie together and how you might actually be sitting next to eachother. Ugh, makes me sick."
"Are you sure it's not from all the alcohol you've been drinking? Ha."
"Ah, you think you're funny? Well, I'll tell you this...."
Everytime, I come over because she "needs" me, I come over, we talk for about 10 minutes and she passes out on her bed. How am I ever gonna get over her when all she does is hang me on? Am I really that hopeless for her that all I can do is "help" her when she needs me? How pathetic is that?
