Maria sat in her room, playing a game with all her favorite teddy bears. Morey, Mr. Fuzz, and Mini. She heard the downstairs door bell ring. Maria happily skipped down the stairs, calling to her mother that she would get it. She opened the wide front door.
There stood a little girl, about her age in a nice party dress, frilled with lace and black fabric. A car pulled out of the drive way and drove off. Maria’s head tilted to one side, inspecting this girl who came to her house. She admired her red hair and green eyes. “I’m Maria. What’s your name?”
“Lauren. My daddy said I could play with you today.”
Being little girls, the two were almost instantly inseparable. Maria gave Lauren a tour of her house, but Lauren’s favorite room was Maria’s bedroom. The walls were, white but everything else was beautiful. Maria had dolls, teddies, toys of all sort, when a unopened tea set caught her eye. Lauren and Maria played tea party for hours and hours, laughing, singing, giggling, just like Alice in Wonderland.
But it came to an end. Lauren left, and Maria went to bed, but not before taking her ‘pill’ as her mother called it.
The next morning, Maria wanted to show her teddy bears her tea set. She couldn’t find it anywhere, though she knew for sure she had left it on the table in her room where she and Lauren had played the day before.
She asked her mother if she knew where it had gone.
Her mother just smiled and laughed. “Honey, you never had a tea set.”
