As the fighting raged on I stood ready for battle. The cries of my falling comrades rang
through my ears as I stood by my king’s throne. “It won’t be long before they breach the
throne room. Your soul purpose is to make sure those scum bags don’t go any where near
the king, understood?” I yelled to my men who were clad in their battle armor, I looked at
their faces. Some prayed others stood silently mentally preparing for the battle ahead. The
king was the only thing that mattered to me; I was his guardian, the strongest person in his
royal fleet. The king sat silently in his throne staring at his men, he turned to me and smiled,
the edge of his eyes wrinkled. “You know I can fend for my self” he said, his voice was
hoarse from his old age. I nodded “we are only concerned for your well being my lord” I said
in a strict tone, he chuckled and shook his head. I yearned to be out side fighting along side
my comrades defending the castle. But my duty is to fend for the king’s life with my own.
There was a large bang on the throne rooms doors, every one froze and the king became
silent, his face darkening. “Barricade the doors, don’t let them in here!” I yelled as the grown
men before me scrambled to block the entrance. I felt chained to the king’s side, unable to
fight with my men and possibly keep some of them alive. The king was on his feet now; he
turned to me and nodded, my heart clenched. “Go fight, I’ll be right behind you” the king said
this as a command, I couldn’t disobey. I nodded and turned to face the doors of the throne
room, my eyes were clouded as the doors to the room burst open and the men from the
apposing army charged into the room. The sound of clinging swords and the cries of fallen
solders filled my ears as I charged into battle. My armor quickly became bloodstained as I
dueled with on of the intruders, he was good but I was much better. My sword quickly found
its way into the mans stomach, I twisted my wrist making the sword spiral and guaranteeing
the mans death. I turned to the next man that I saw taking him down easily. The king’s army
was dwindling down to its last few men I had to think quickly before we lost the battle.
“Nevaeh, my dearest sister it has been to long!” the yelling came from the throne, ‘not good
damn it!’ I thought as I turned to face the one person who could match my talent. His black
bangs lay askew across his eyes; his dark brown eyes mirrored mine. “Well dear sister
aren’t you going to give me a hug?” I glared at him, my brother Drew. Time stopped around
me and everyone else, nobody moved and the tension between my brother and I grew. “So
you’re the traitor” I said coldly, standing up I whipped my blade with my tunic. I lifted my
sword and pointed it at my brother. “You don’t disserve to live brother” I said coldly, Drew
looked hurt. “Ouch that hurt sis, you shouldn’t say something like that” he said with mock
hurt. “You are no longer worth calling my brother, in my eyes you are just scum!” I yelled with
a sneer. Drew’s expression flattened and he pulled out his sword “look dear sister you know
why I’m here” the corner of his mouth pulled up in a cocky grin. I looked at where the king lay
on the ground, injured. With out another word the race was started, my brother and I raced to
reach the king. Jumping over bodies, blood and swords we ran as fast as we could. ‘All
most there!’ I thought, some ones hand wrapped around my ankle. I landed with a loud thud
and clatter of metal, my eyes widened as Drew moved closer to the king. Giving the
offending hand a cut with my sword I jumped to my feet and tried to make the difference in
distance up before it was too late. “NO!” I yelled, as Drew’s blade extended closing the gap
between him and the king. Silence feel as every one in the room watched as my brother,
Drew, killed the king. I continued to run to the king or what was left of him, Drew stood there
looking at me, amused. “You monster!” I yelled swinging my sword, Drew laughed
menacingly. He charged at me with his sword at the ready, “you’re ready to die so soon
Nevaeh? It’s a shame I was hoping to rule the kingdom with you” he said mockingly. The
gap between us closed and our blades clanked as they hit, I concentrated my energy into my
blade, I could see Drew doing the same. My blade began to glow a mossy green color,
Drew’s sword began to glow a blood red, our blades collided again and again as we
danced around the room, the green and red steadily growing brighter. “Die!” I yelled giving
my blade a final push. I heard Drew gasp and cough, his sword clattered to the ground.
“Good bye sister” was all he said before I instinctively twisted my wrist. I pulled my sword out
of Drew and looked around, every one around me stood completely still. Glancing around at
them I realized something, I was scaring them ‘good’ I thought. Running as fast as I could I
used my sword to kill every last intruder, they tried to run but it didn’t take long for me to catch
up to them and drive my blade into their bodies. ‘Their all gone’ I thought as I looked around
the now blood stained throne room. I slowly walked back over to where the king was, my
vision was blurred as I cried over his dead body. ‘It was my responsibility to protect the king’
I thought bitterly ‘and I failed!’ I brought my sword’s point to my chest, and ended my life
where I stood.
