Harsh wind blew against me as I ran. Tears streamed down my cheeks and blurred my vision, but I didn't stop running. I didn't want to stop. I wanted to die. He had betrayed me, my one true love. Erik. The name bounced around in my head. Furious, I ran faster. Pain erupted in my chest, I couldn't breathe. I slowed, and stopped, panting. A forest was nearby, I knew. I dragged myself the remainder of the way. A tall, thick tree stood in front of me, and I climbed. Up and up and up. I don't know how I did it, but being near something that could never hurt me, but had so much life, was comforting beyond belief. I was halfway up the tree when I stopped. Sobbing, I sat on a branch and leaned against the tree. It felt so good, just to cry. The anger and hurt flowed out of my body in the tears. The bark on the tree darkened as I continued crying. I'd never been hurt like this before. Oh, Erik... Why?
The sobbing stopped. I felt empty. Erik was the first person to love me. Or so I thought. He had hurt me in a way no one ever had before and I would get revenge. I would.
