Prolouge
A flute player.
A flute player, to not save to save the dead souls of the spirtual realms. But to end them, the flute itself, was demonic, a pure black silver. And old legend said it was the flute of death, when it played, deaths would follow in its wake, of all who heard.
But thats not how this happened....
The flute, was a flute of death, but only to souls. Dead souls, would be ripped from their body, and however possed the flute, would therefore, decide the fate. In a way, one could suppose, if a holy spirit held it, it would not be an evil, but a good. But the question remains this:
Could a holy spirit hold such a wicked, wicked thing?
Leon
A flex of the wings, that’s all it takes for me to get going. My wings, black, and purple, have kept me going. Though I'm younger than nearly all of the demons here in hell, mine are bigger than demons thousands of years older than me.
That, my friend, is what we call talent. After all, its all the size of the wings that matter here, the bigger the wings, the stronger the power. Wings evolve with your power over time, and I'm not all that old either. Well, actually, I'm not sure how old I actually am. But, I know I'm the youngest, on account that I have a teenage complextion. I guess if someone like you, a human, saw me (which you can't, haha) I'd look about seventeen, maybe sixteen. Even though that’s not my age, lets just go with that.
Anyway, as usuall, I have to report to the bowels of hell, and see what unfourtnate soul has to be dragged in next. Whats worse, is that I always have to go for the restless, crazy ones. I'm like their heavy arltilary, shesh. "Seventeen" and look, I best 100,005 year-olds. Pathetic. I'm so tired of this, I'm tired all the time, and my throats sore. I'm sick of playing this damn flute. Everyday earth day, I have to play it loud and strong to rip out whatever soul I have to drag over. Can't I get something easy, for once!? Is it really that hard? And I'd love a vacation...That...would kick a**. I don't remember when I began working, all I know, is when I started, I havn't taken any vacations since. All work work work....Hey, I may live in hell, but you can have a little while off. Of course, only the demons, not any of the human souls. My perks of being a demon. Haha.
Annnnywaaaay, theres our "chief" I guess you could say, who gives us our humans who have to be condemed to hell. Now latley, hes been really pissy...A lot of souls have been healed because angels get there before we do, heal them, and then bring them to heaven. Not does this get him pissed off, but he brings it out on us. It ain't our fault, its not like we have a map to show us where the dumb soul is. One time I was so lost on where it was, I was focusing on the ground, and didn't look up. That changed when I flew straight into a chimmney. How we find souls is that we wait untill we feel a restless feeling in the certain area we where sent to look for. Sometimes, they're close, other times, it'll take more than four freakin' hours to find the God damn thing. Oh well, me, and a few other demons met in the center of hell. Where flames are not just red, they're blue, and black. Good, no sign of...
"So, once again, the great Leon has to get assigned."
God damn it...Roba.
Roba is the biggest jackass you'll probably meet. Hes been jeolous of me for quite sometime now. I'm stronger than he is, and that fuels his fire. Oh wah, I'm younger than him, so he has to be stronger...The chief held up his hand, silencing all.
"Now, Roba, after last time, you and Leon will work alone." He said.
Oh thank God. Last time we worked together, not only did the soul get healed while we where still on site, but we nearly killed each other in the processes. I may not like playing my flute day after day, but you don't insult me as I'm playing it God damn it. I swear, his a dumb-s**t...
"However, Roba, you and the others are going to tackle a young man who recently drowned by Havasu Creek. Seems that he was pushed in and won't rest because he doesn't know who killed him. Hes been at large for quite sometime, proving dangerous to the living. Hes been trying to drown a few other people. Bring him back as quick as your wings can. Leon." He adressed me. "You will not be accompany them." He said.
"Really? What am I doing?" I asked. Probably something that was five times harder than the drowned guy. I'll probably get a drunk who's girlfriend cheated on him, and he commited sucicide. Then hes somehow managed to get away from all traces of hell, so hes totally insane, has killed five people, and it'll take more than my flute to drag him over here. (By the way, this was off of my own experince. I did it by myself too. Ugh, it was terrible.) I braced myself for the wosrt.
"You're going to vist a young girl, shes died in her sleep and is resltess because shes been very sickly and shes never seen the outside world."
My jaw dropped. "WHAT?" I can do that blindfolded with one hand tied behind me! What the hell?! I heard laughter from behind me. Roba's was the loudest.
"Well Leon!" He chuckled. "You've been complaining that you needed something easier!"
I didn't say anything, I waited untill their portal to the living opened up.
"You going, Leon?" Chief asked.
"I suppose." I cracked my wings. The portal was opening up.
"Leon." He stopped me. "This will be good for you...I assure you, this soul, is like no one elses. You shall see."
I held my flute, but I didn't take it out. "Yes sire." I bowed, and flew straight through the portal. I went from a place of searing fire and extreme heat....
....To a place of calmness and coolness. I was in the center of a wooden floor, on the left of me, was a book case, a large one. Each shelf filled with different books of different sizes of thickness, height, color, and dustiness. They looked like they havn't been touched in years. In front of me, was both a door, and a wooden dresser. So then...Wheres...? Oh, behind me. A bed, very low to the floor...It suscpicouly looked like a couch that folded out to be a bed. Blue sheets, white blanket, gaint blue pillow, and green body pillow. Finally, the young girl. Her face was pale, brown hair...The rest I couldn't see, closed eyes, normal nose, normal mouth, slim neck, and the rest was blankets. So, she really did die in her sleep. Probably the best way to go. Part of me though, felt sorry for the small little human. She looked...fifteen. Too young. All part of the job though. What was so specail about this one? She seemed normal to me. Either way, I kneeled on the bed carefully, and was about to reach into her chest, where her heart and soul lay...
Then her eyes snapped open.
