It all seemed just an average day, in my little town, relaxing in my room reading a book. All very average things i normally did on an average day. But my world changed suddenly, and at first its hard to get the fact your home is being attacked by zombies.
My mother let out a blood curdling scream as something slammed against the large windows of the kitchen she had begun making dinner in. I figured it was just my dad being rediculous, or a large bird scared my mom. Thing is, my mom doesn't scream. I know thats wierd but you don't know the women, so a opened my door and my mom had vanished, so had the thing that cracked against the window. Filled with curiousity i moved to the kitchen to discover what had frightened my mom so much. Odd...there was like a slime on the window. I wondered what could it be, it also looked as if there was some kind of chunk attached to the window. Taking a closer look my heart sped, it looked like a chunk of skin.
Immediately i scanned around for my mother, but she wasn't in the kitchen or living room. Turning around i looked back out the window, nothing. Another hard sound cracked the air and I twisted back to look into my kitchen with surprising speed, it was my sister's door swinging open and hitting the wall. My mom emerged pushing my sister in her wheelchair, she seemed white as a ghost. I've never seen her like this, but her frantic eyes quickly fell on me.
"Quick, get a change of clothes and wake up your brother, we're getting out of here!!"
she was almost screeching as she sat Chris in the center of the kitchen, her holding a little bag of essentials. I was scared now, something must be wrong but i didnt have time to ask my mom as she hurried downstairs to get her own things. I did as i was told. Moving to my brothers room, he was sleeping soundly but i had to wake him. Trying to keep calmness in my voice, I called out to him and got a moan in reply.
"Tony, mom says get up, we have to go ASAP"
His eyes flew open and looked at me questioning, but i shrugged and told him to do as i said. Slowly he got up from his bed, he was going to listen so i moved across the little hallway to my room and pulled open the door.
First thing i noticed was that my screen had fallen out, and some of the same slime was on my window. I was scared to be in my room now, and i could smell the horrid stench that slime held. It smelled of death and decay, but the slime was only on my window so i quickly gathered things up. Once done, i stared at my window. Debaiting on shutting it, but that would require to things, corage, and the will to get closer to that slime. No, I turned away and left my room. But before i slammed my door to leave I moved my hand to the inside door handle and locked it. Whatever was trying to get in now could, through my window, atleast a locked door would save us some time. My mom had my sister by the door now, and my brother was standing there with them, almost sleeping. My mother seemed alittle out of it now, scanning the outside, keys in hand. But as she heard my door close her eyes fell on me again.
"You ready?"
I replied with a nod, not sure what to say. Obviously we were running from something serious, or my mom was just going insane. Again she looked out the door, now with more of a purpose. Her hand shakily grabbed the knob, taking one last look, then looking to us she spoke, fear filled the sound of her usually sure voice.
"Once I open the door, Tony, you first, Sarah you follow him. Get into the 'bu as fast as you can"
All me and tony could do was nod as we received orders of what to do. When my mom said 'bu she meant my 2000 Malibu i had gotten as a graduation gift. I looked over at my brother, he seemed more awake now as we both looked at the car. My mom handed me the keys
"As soon as me and Christy get there, go. Don't worry about anything just go"
She swung open the door as quietly as she could and nodded to me and tony, we burst out the door, looking around not sure still of whats going on. Though tony made it to the car, I saw a man looking in the windows of the little blue shed, the pool between us. He looked alittle off, not normal, which had turned out to be the pattern of the day. I stopped interested in what he was doing. My mom had reached me now with christy's wheelchair the gravel made awful sounds. Mother grabbed my arm and hard and told me to get in the car and give her the keys, i screwed it up. But i focused on the man in the yard
"MOVE IT!"
My mom yelled in my ear basically, now this man looked up. I gasped, holding back a shreik, half the man's face seemed melted away. Quickly my mom pulled me from my state of shock as the man with the melted face hobbled closer. I basically fell into the car, keeping my eye on the man. He took the long way around the pool, his ill choice gave us more time. I slammed my door as his mouth fell, it was dark, I blinked a few times trying to figure it out. His stiffness, lack of color, and the choking smell. I know knew what it was, but didn't want to say it, a zombie.
I looked at my brother as his own eyes fell on the wobbly thing, and my mom put my sister in the car, not worrying about the wheelchair, she threw it in the path of this zombie as it stumbled past the pool. The thing seemed interested with the chair, then again it smelled of my living sister. It bent over oddly to look at it as my mom got into the drivers seat, the dead thing looked up and screeched something horrible. But my mom was too focused on getting her kids out of there. She started the car and looked back switching into reverse she hit the chair which hit the zombie and it fell to the ground with a sickening sound. My brother and myself watched horrified as my mom pushed it into drive and twisted out of my driveway. She wasn't stopping to see if there were any cars.
But suddenly a thud sounded and the car rocked. We looked behind us. There was another one!! This one was female and her cloths were shredded and half her hair seemed eaten away, beside those things and the odd paleness of her skin, she looked normal. My mom raced out of the driveway not giving the thing a chance at the car.
My brother spun to my mom and yelled.
"what the hell is going on?!"
Of coarse my mom didn't know, who could explain something like this, my sister began crying. All my mom could say was,
"we're going to get your father"

- Really good biggrin I normally don't enjoy zombie-based stories. But this... This was really, really good.
