How the Turtle got its Shell
By Julius Bush
Once there was a young man named John who lived in Winchester England during the renaissance age. John grew up and became a warrior and an artist thrue out his years living in the town. One day, the young man decided to leave England in order to collect fruits and other items and was heading to an unknown island that was at the Sea of Japan.
John slept on his boat for days until he crashed into some bumpy and gigantic rocks and was awoken by the sound. John went to get his bag that had his map, knife, coins, and his lucky ring that was made of gold, emerald, ruby, and sapphire and jumped into the water which wasn't that deep and said "this might be awhile to get home."
It was only one hour and a half that John settled on an island (that was not far from the rocks) and it looked like as if John knew how to survive. "There, that's taken care of now."
Later that night, John was gathering tropical fruits and some logs to survive. He was walking to his shelter and then putted his fruits in a pile in a corner then putted the logs right next to a tree. John then grabbed two rocks out of his bag, then made a little pit, and then grabbed 2 or 3 logs and placed them into the pit and grabbed the two rocks and stroked them on top of the logs until sparks went flying onto the logs which caused a fire to appear before John. John then fell down, and looked at the endless and wide sea and then drifted off to sleep.
Dawn awakened from the twilight night, John awoke and first saw the giant rocks far away were his wrecked ship had crashed from yesterday and randomly wondered if he could carve something artistic out of the gigantic rocks.
Minutes later, John was near the rocks, "All I have to do is just carve one of those rocks and I mi-"John was explaining to himself until he saw a strange, small, and green creature that looked like what Japanese call in folktales "kappa" only it lacked a shell and did not stand up like a human. John then looked at the creature. John thought in his mind what to do and mumbled while thinking, "The creature looks like a kappa, but it lacks a shell. I should be able to make a shell for him to fit into."
John went back to his shelter to get his bag were it was in the shades and founded his lucky ring and putted it on his right figure and got his knife. It seems impossible to carve a shell out of a rock but if John or anyone else puts the lucky ring on, carving a rock is like carving a small wooden tree and the tool or weapon the person is using will never become stale. John walked back to the giant rocks and closed his eye trying to focus with complete silence.
When John opened his eyes, he then carved one rock that was smaller but was still big (6 feet high) and then started to carve, carve, carve, and carved more until the rock was about a size of a human chest (or the front side of a human). The strange creature, while John carved, was somewhere near John's shelter but John didn't mind. John then turned over the carved rock and carved until the rock was hallowed and perfect shaped.
The strange creature returned to the area John was at, John noticed it and picked up the creature and putted it in the really light and hallow rock that was a perfect size for the creature. "There", John huffed and got up, "that should take care of that."
John returned to his shelter and saw what seemed like a note in the sand that pointed to the sea. John turned and was in shock and awe at what appeared to him. It was a colorful, red and blue, Japanese ship that had lots of food on it that had a person that shared almost the same interest as John. John went to get his tropical fruits and putted them on the ship.
Now John and the unknown person sail across the seas to find treasure and discoveries and the strange creature turned out to be known as the turtle that people worldwide know today.
