• I watched the clock tick away my life. The hands looked as if they were screaming six-o-clock. The man across from me kept talking and I acted as if I was listening. A nod here and an uh-huh once in a while. He paused for a minute and began tapping the table between us. It was an irritating noise. I looked away form the clock to give him a glare.
"Your not listening to me, are you?" He sighed.
"Huh? Sorry I just spaced off." I said sheepishly and looked off again.
Now, I've been seeing this guy for almost two years now, no it’s not like that. I was considered insane and was sent here to become sane again; if that’s possible. This all started from a little argument and I threatened a guy in a slightly unusual way. I thought I’d be required to do three months in an anger management class, but no it had to be psychiatric ward. I believe the judge went a little too far with this; at least I'm not in one of those straight jackets, it would clash with my raven black hair and icy blue eyes. I laughed to myself at that thought.
"Earth to Dani, come in Dani." He laughed at his stupid joke,” What are you thinking about this time?"
I gave him a straight answer, "Just how insane you people think I am."
"You know none of us think that." but his voice lost his normal joking tone.
"Your lying, I'd be gone if that was true. I rather be in prison getting shocked instead of being here.” I said sarcastically, but still driving the point home.
"That’s why your still here." He lectured, then taking off his glasses he rubbed his temples, "You’re the only case we see going backwards instead of forwards"
"So, I'm a case not even considered human." I spat back at him.
"You know that’s not what I meant." He spoke trying to keep his cool.
"Then what did you mean? Hmm?" I said giving him a narrowed eye glare.
"You’re the only person here who seems to want to stay as if you have nothing to go back to." He almost yelled but some how retained himself.
I paused and thought of what to say, but all I could do was sit and stare. He hit home and it hurt, it hurt a lot. I stood up, straightened my smock, and nodded my head. My feet covered in blue slippers seemed to pull me toward the door, to the guard, to my cell. The guard was always emotionless.
"Must I always be cuffed?" I asked knowing the answer.
"Yes, for the safety of you and the people around you." He said in a gruff voice.
I showed him my wrists and felt the slap of cold metal around them. At least my feet weren't shackled, I thought to myself remembering last year and how they chafed my ankles had gotten. As he pulled me along I looked at the cell numbers as we past. The numbers were the cell holder's social security number. They could be easily removed if the captive died or was moved. I found nine numbers way too many to put on a single cell door. Then mine, number 854-97-5136.
I felt the cuffs slip from my hands as I was pushed into the cell. It was a small room; maybe a ten by ten. There was a single bed at the far corner of the room, a toilet at the other side, no windows, a solid steel door kept me in.
"Look at the mess we're in now." I whispered to myself.
"Don't blame me, if you had just lied a few times we would be out in the real world by now." I replied as I began to pace back and forth.
"What is that buzzing noise?" I asked.
    "No clue." I said pausing.
I looked at the door and began to pace again. I touched my face, my once fine features were now gone. My skin felt tight and ruff, stretched across my face. I touched and looked at my once beautiful hair. It was not the nice raven black it once was, it was now dull and felt coarse.
"I'm a walking skeleton." I gasped finally taking it all in.
"Where is that blasted noise coming from? It's driving me insane!" I laughed insanely.
"Don't you see I'm not supposed to be here. I'm not crazy...Can some one please stop that buzzing noise?" I yelled at the top of my lunges.
I broke into a giddy laughter. My pacing quickened, and then I heard the door click open. I stopped, turned and smiled.
"I guess you’ll now be escorting me out." I said cheerfully skipping over to the open door.
The buzzing became louder. There seemed to be three of them; two really buff looking ones and really scrawny one. They were all wearing white coats. Hmm, I wonder as they began to walk towards me. I stopped in my tracks, I should have darted out. Before I knew it they were pinning me down to the bed.
"Hey, HEY! What are you doing?" I screamed thrashing about.
"Shh, shh, it will all be over soon." the Scrawny one said in a hypnotic voice.
"What?!?! What do you mean?" I barked, my voice died in the end.
Then I saw it. There it was, a needle sticking out of my arm. Everything began to go quite, the buzzing stopped; I think I said help or something to that extent, and then it all went black.
