My steps echoed as I walked through the empty locker halls. I did not feel very safe here. Geeze it was awfully quiet, I thought to myself. I was still looking for the office when I heard the slight sound of shuffling feet. I spun around. Nothing was there. Strange I thought to myself. I turn away and hasten my pace.
Finally I see the office and push open the door grateful to see a woman behind a large mahogany desk.
“Hi, it’s my first day here. Can I have some help finding my classrooms?” I ask politely.
“Sure, and what might your name be?” the lady, who upon closer inspection is named Mary.
“Rosaline, Rosaline Joyce.” I said.
“Oh, I did not know Victor Joyce had a daughter. You must be mighty proud of your father I do not know of many who started of poor and became one of America’s richest people. It's quite a honor.” exclaimed the lady. I felt my cheeks turn bright red.
“Son, son come here!” yelled Mary.
And out came running a boy just about a few years older than me from the back room. He had the strangest colored eyes I have ever seen, a combination of a very light blue and hard onyx, black hair that seemed almost purple that hung right above his shoulder, and his pale skin was odd for we lived in California. He looked. . . Lovely.
“Please take Rosaline to her classes.” said Mary.
“Um. Sure.” And he put down the large quantities of books he was carrying in one swift movement and led me out.
I was not very good with words so my next moments walking next to him went by silently. But it still felt nice. I finally picked up enough courage to ask him some questions.
“So what’s your name?”
“Alexander.” he responds.
“Will I see you again later. . . I mean to help me find my next class?” I ask you can hear the hint hopefulness in my voice.
“Yes.” He answers softly.
I was thinking of something intelligent to say when I lost my balance and trip over my own foot and was about to land on the hard stone floor, but unexpectedly Alexander's hand got a hold on my waist and he pulled me up. I couldn’t breath, his face was within a close proximity with mine. Oh I just wanted to close that distance between our lips. But he withdrew quickly and with me in a daze as if his breath was toxic.
We got there in what seemed to be a blink of an eye. . . Nah it was just my imagination. I hoped.
“Than- Where did he go?” He vanished.
“I fear my day is just about to get even stranger” I whisper softly, some part of me knew I was very right.
